OK. Stand corrected if that is the case. Still, handballing it in the air so much is optically a bit different and can't really blame the umpire too much.

What would happen if a player kicked the ball 50 metres up and 20 metres forward, then ran and marked it? Acres might do this one day. Is he supposed to get pinged for running too far?
l woudn't think so because he has kicked the ball. He has not run with out disposing of the ball or bouncing it.

Just wondering as the Egirls now desperately need a ruck (& they should have plenty of money to splash around) will they make a play for Sean Darcy?
Tim English would be at the top of their wishlist, saw a few of them on there complaining that they didn't retire Naitanui a year early so they could make a play for English last year.

When was it a couple of years back where the eagles lost a close game and niknat was too unfit to make it to the contest on the 50 lol. And then the coach claimed it was a set play for niknat to sit behind the ball totally gassed and unable to run lol

Goldstein marked on the goal line, thank you very much.

NikNat was “unable” to move past the half back line, expected McGovern & Co to look after his opponent.

Naitanui will go down as one of the best ruckman of the game in my opinion, all down to what you consider a good ruckman.

Shame about the team he played for, but he seems like a genuine guy, wish him all the best.

Darn good ruckman, but not in the top 5 from WA.

Good Black Duck recruit.

Two blatant bad calls in the Geelong Collingwood game.

The mark that looked on the full was actually line ball. There is a reverse angle that looks like it may have been on the line. Either call in that situation is fine going by how tight it was.

Dafuq? A truly memorable day for the young man. 🤣

'It was a tough day at the office for the Eagles in their 101-point defeat to Fremantle, but Hewett was one of shining lights for his side in the hefty loss.'

My favourite Nic memory was before AFL.
2008 WAFL grand final I was on the wing in the stands as he gave Phil Read a 40 meter head start and caught that little campaigner on the 50m line as he was about to kick into an open goal, and buried him 6 foot deep.

For that Nic you were always a fave

I was about to share the same story. I was there too. The noise the crowd made was epic.

I actually became a temporary Swan Districts fan that year. I started going to the WAFL after I read an article in the worst about this incredible kid coming through at Swans that had broken every athletics record at his school in pretty much every event.

I actually wasn't that impressed with him when I first saw him play for the same reasons he was criticised throughout his whole career, he didn't get involved enough, but he would occasionally do something incredible.

But I started watching Walters and Yarran and as I tend to do got emotionally involved with the team from watching them live.
Was so glad we drafted Son Son that year.

I don't think I've seen a better ruck than Nic Nat in terms of his control over directing taps anywhere in a 360 circle and when his mids were on and knew where it was going it made them pretty formidable at stoppage.

Ok, I thought it wasn't a mark but play on because I thought that had happened before. Not sure if it's always been that way but if the kick or handball doesn't hit the ground it's a free.
TBH I didn't know about the rule until a few years ago when an Irish Essendon player (McKenna?) did a solo to himself running through the middle. The media talked it up and it turns out it wasn't legal, at least not in terms of resetting the 15m you could run without bouncing it. He should have been pinged for running too far.

Clancee Pearce was in that team too. A LOT of kids drafted from that Swans side.

I’ve never forgotten Doug Hawkins got paid a mark off his own kick at the Western Oval one time. Was blowing a gale and he skied a kick higher than it went long. He got to the contest and ended up marking it himself. Umpire paid the mark. I have NFI whether the umpire simply made a mistake and didn’t realise Dougie had kicked it, but I’ve always therefore assumed you can take a mark from your own kick.

Are you thinking of the North game at Optus where Goldy just drifted down and across the front of the square to take easiest of marks ?

Pretty sure Baker was always an Eagle, like a mad one

Then he was playing against Peel in that year that we beat Subi with a Freo team, would have made the hate towards us even stronger (and he was a hothead so clashed with the Freo boys, Traino said on his poddy with Bakes that they used to hate him a bit)

Finally, he loves it over in Melbourne

all 3 of those add up to never coming to Freo
