This delisting and rookie draft is a rort. Hawks signed up Gunston last month, then delist him today and commit to pick him as a rookie? What a crock of shit.

I hope North or Richmond pick him and he retires immediately.

A 250 game, 500 goal, all australian, b&f winning, triple premiership medallion rookie.

Whatever that list is, I think it needs a new name

Does Busselton have scheduled flights from eastern states or are these going to be charter flights ?
They've had direct flights from Busso to Melbourne for a few years now. But I always thought they were Jetstar not Virgin, so maybe they will be chartering.

I think the senior list and Category A rookie list should just be merged tbh. These days the Category A rookie list is mostly a small reserves list made up of whoever you can get away putting on there. It’s all the same except for the technicalities of it.

Category B rookie list can be renamed instead.

Don’t care what it’s called, just wonder why we’re turning a 20yo development ruck into a FA for life instead of just moving McDonald, Wagner, Fyfe or Walters to the rookie list.

You mean, didn’t doing that gain us Shai Bolton?

I don't understand why they don't just change the name to the supplementary list. We get the same arguments every year and the whole issue is immediately fixable with an insignificant and easy change. If they don't want to change the rookie draft they could keep it and call it supplementary draft

I think you said it yourself - the change would be insignificant. Too insignificant for the AFL to bother.

For change to be made by the AFL it needs to be something no one asked for with a high chance of making the league slightly worse or a reversal of something the AFL *ed massively in the first place. Don’t think a legacy name like ‘rookie list’ that no longer applies is a massive * up tbh.

100%
No mention of the teammates he sent a message to offering to supply the gear.

Apparently some media outlets know who these others are, but Barry sharing at this time

Surely trafficking to teammates implied usage, albeit no evidence proving in the system to give a strike to

So yeh, feels like the AFL is leveraging their power to sweep this one quietly away

He has been scapegoated and completely thrown under the bus

"trafficking"

Everyone knows that 1 person buys for the group, everyone else is getting away with it while Smith has been absolutely burnt.

Massive lesson for all AFL players, don't touch this stuff anywhere near game day, career is at risk.

This all gets swept under the rug if he doesn't test positive on gameday

It doesn't help him that he's Joel Smith and not Clayton Oliver

Like everything in life your profile has a dramatic impact on the outcomes your actions draw

Unfortunately in sport it's amplified massively

It seems ridiculous to me to have a $1 million prize for the best performed club in the men's and women's home and away season, when the fixtures are so uneven. The Hawks have won the prize but their women's team hasn't played against 5 of the top 8 teams and their men's team got 3 double up games against the bottom 4 teams.

Gotta love how no other players were implicated…. AFL doing another outstanding job of 🧹 💩 under the rug
It’s not the AFL’s fault. The charge was Trafficking or attempted trafficking of cocaine. Much like tanking, Dill isn’t exactly sure what trafficking is so they can’t be certain anyone else has done anything wrong, unless an Adelaide coach is involved.
