His conditioning is substandard at the moment, add that to the hotheadedness and the opposition will clearly take advantage of it. Watch Andy get under his skin in round 3.

Ego needs to be dialled down (a bit of FIGJAM is fine), and much better work ethic adopted. Personally, think he goes at the end of the season or next and it's a win for West Coast; their fans might not see it that way.

Watching them yesterday was like a combination of the worst parts of the Richmond surge gameplan and the last few diabolical seasons they've dished up. I can't imagine Allen and Waterman loving trying to get cheap out the back looks and not play their natural leading games. Tim Kelly genuinely looks checked out. McGovern can only paper over the cracks for so long before he's injured again. Flynn looks Reidy-esque. Having a genuine plodder like Graham lead your midfield really says it all.

I did comment yesterday how much he was missing Barrass, beacuse Gold Coast had two quality key forwards and Harry Edwards is a potato

How do we feel about Hawks going passed us and potentially finishing top 4 with a real crack at the flag? Mitchell a flog but obviously a good coach, with a flag at eagles now shooting up the ladder.
I think our best defence and midfield can match theirs , their defence probably outdoes our forward line .
It’s the ducking and flopping that will get them across the line

A tiny bit of good news. The Synthetic DR is off to a flyer. Hawks are two from two and Carlton lost. In case you need reminding Carlton lost to wooden spoon favourite Richmond.
I've seen some chatter here about people tired of death riding after last year's overload.
Not me though. I loved it.

I'm disappointed we don't have a legitimate death ride for 2025. Richmond's third round pick is lame because the stakes are low and the results predictable.

However, I may have stumbled across a death ride by proxy or a derivative death ride. Here's what I found on the West Coast subreddit:

View attachment 2234066

Quick recap: in return for Barrass West Coast were given the option of either Carlton or Hawthorns 2025 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks. They chose Hawthorn.

So the death ride by proxy means we want Hawthorn to win and Carlton to lose.

This is something I can get behind. Well because it's Carlton and though I don't love the Hawks I can be convinced to. It might be fun. Hokbal and all that.

I'm not a fan of this Archer ban being upheld. I agree with those that are saying that's a suspension based on the outcome not the act/intent

It’s a joke! They are ruining the game.

Agreed, but this suspension is based entirely on the AFL covering their own arses from future lawsuits. It's an entirely accidental collision, Archer is just the poor fella that made the contact that caused concussion, it's an easy opportunity for the AFL to throw the book at someone that's not a big name.

Oh Harley is far more likely to not reach his, but this type of behaviour is hardly unprecedented in top end juniors. He could still go either way.

This is often the difference between having strong leaders at a club, and not.

I would guarantee he would go the right way, if they had Joel Selwood playing at his club.
Great to see Brayshaw, Serong and co improving Bolton's training level, you need good off field leaders. I am going to assume, we are doing this for the draftees.

Good piece here by Simmo. I must say I was blown away by Bailey Smiths combination of power and explosive running at the weekend. He was just running everywhere - we have no player remotely close to his blend of athleticism and running ability in our midfield. Andy can run but I’d say he gives away a good 8-10kg to Smith.
At one point smith turned around while in possession and literally tossed Sharp (I think it was), who is also a decent runner, out of his way like a ragdoll.

If he was a decent kick he’d be the best player in the comp in that form.
In the last quarter especially you could see heaps of our boys stretching out cramps off the ball while smith was still sprinting around everywhere like a bull just let loose in the paddock.

Its ****ed up Geelong got him for pick 17, and I could not understand even back then why every media w***er thought it was a fair price for a 24 year old ultra professional guy that could easily play for another 12 years at a high level.
