Logue would be awesome at it
I’d love to see it but it’s a bit too far outside the square me thinks .
I’m not sure how any can categorically say Brodie “can’t “ do it , he’s the big bodied mid dog that’s really his job .
Logue in the middle would be interesting but as you said it’s well outside the square for us. I’m saying Brodie can’t do a hard tag, I don’t think it’s in his natural game and you need a decent tank and an incredibly focused mind. Maybe he could but he’s done nothing in his career so far to suggest he could.

Simpson seems to be handling this disaster for west coast as well as can be expected. Good on him. What a farce.
Now the AFL has got the crisis these ridiculous rules were always going to create, how do they respond is the main question.

Jesus Christ, that's Kennedy, Dixon and Waterman out of West Coast's forward line this week, the only tall forward they have is Darling.

If North can't even beat this team.....

The term "genius" gets floated around too much but Tim Minchin is the rare example where he well and truly is worthy of the title. Feels like he should get more recognition in Australia as one of our greatest people than he actually does.
He is definitely a genius.

I encourage everyone who hasn't seen his TV drama Upright to do so

Absolutely captivating

I hate Carlton as much as the next person but I also feel for their supporter base. It's hard enough being a Freo supporter but there is a reason they are called the Blues.

Far out. Swans have been bottom of the ladder at the end of a round only 3 times?!

They laid it out before the season starts, it's play-on and use the top ups to play the game. I personally think they got the top up lists wrong, teams should be able to pick from anyone who has nominated. Not just the 20 allocated to their side.

I hope the Eagles come out and lose by over 100 (I know, we all hope that every week but this is for different reasons) and the game is a farce. The AFL protocols are ridiculous and will soon be even more out of kilter with national cabinet rules if the changes to testing and isolation rules that national cabinet requested are ratified.

The AFL can only go off what rules the states are on. The AFL aren’t forcing the eagles players to miss the game, the fact they are in isolation due to WA rules are why they can’t play.

The only reason they are isolating is they have covid or someone in their household has it. They just say H&S protocols so they don't have to talk about players personal medical situation or their families.

Either way, it's not like it was a month ago when people had to isolate for hardly anything. If they are because they have been attending 2 hour team meetings with no masks, then they deserve it.

Correct, but it's not the AFL protocols keeping them out. They are missing because they are in isolation due to State regulations.

Yes, Sydney post 2000, but they had a few of years in the early 1990's where they racked up to the mid 40's.

Depends on how many other bad teams there are at the same time. I saw when were 0-10 in 2016 that we were on the bottom for 7 of those 10 weeks.
That was the same year Essendon had their players banned, so they spent the rest of the season there.

WC got all the 9 at the back end of 2010 when they won the spoon.

Only a few teams have spent the entire season at the bottom from 1st to last round. North Melbourne in 2021 managed it.
Others in the last 100 years - Melbourne 2008, St Kilda 1985, Hawthorn 1950, St Kilda 1948, North Melb 1931

It is the AFL testing protocols that are contributing because asymptomatic players are getting tested several times per week. The state isn't mandating testing everyone in the population several time per week.
It's estimated in the highly vaccinated population up to 80% of people that test positive have no symptoms. The more you test the more you find.

Give it a rest. You keep bringing this shit up. It is boring and annoying.
Every thread. LOL
Put me on ignore mate if you don't like me, easy peasy. Or just don't read We're discussing that the AFL could stuff up the season through their own protocols. Seems a legit topic.

Or just keep it in the Covid thread.
Seriously, report it to the mods if it bothers you. Speaking personally, I am just responding to and discussing things that interest me as I see them posted, I don't even know what thread I am in half the time. The mods can curate threads if they want.

This thread is about AFL things not involving Freo. So a club possibly being unable to field a team, and why, belongs in this thread.

I admit to also being annoyed when I see, for example, random nontraining shit posted in the training thread but I usually try and either ignore it or rarely make some light-hearted (likely unamusing in my usual style) joke to get the conversation back on track. Try it sometime.

Can't see the need to sympathise with WC - accordingly to Swans-Cats strapline the match v Norths is being postponed.

Great to think the AFL'd do the same for us, isn't it?

Surely not, I saw Gil on the news saying games will go on. It was fine in the big bash, it’ll be fine with the AFL.

That is a bullshit stat. 20% of the Australian population has actually had covid so if 80% are showing no symptoms then the actual amount of covid would be thru the roof. Doesn’t pass the sniff test.

Yes you're right, 80% that have covid have no symptoms not 80% of positive tests, my bad
Fact remains that if you test a bunch of symptomatic people enough you'll detect covid, as the AFL is doing
