This has a Mal Michael to Essendon dodgy vibe about it:

Or a Hodge or Sam Mitchell vibe

Collingwood > Treloar > Bulldogs talk about a cluster F. So what happens if by the end of tomorrow magpies/bulldogs can't agree on who pays how much? Does the trade get cancelled? Though I'm sure the AFL would step in an make it happen first.
I think they just can't agree on the years it's paid in. G ijven pies beams situation think they will be given levity behind the scenes and the terms on paper will be what the bulldogs have agreed to, but the pies still pay the to total over the duration in the years they need to

Cool stat:

If the Tigers hadn't lost the 1982 GF in Maurice Senior's first year, you would have had the full set, albeit technically he was recruited and not drafted.

A rolling fixture is especially annoying for us non-queenslanders
Yep, I think for a lot of Vic fans that they'll just stop buying memberships moving forward if that is the case. The price of the Vic memberships was always contingent on how many games the club got in Melbourne, but now with not knowing (a) I don't know how the club could possibly price memberships; and (b) many members bought memberships to support the club despite there being little value in buying memberships (if you miss one game, it actually works out cheaper buying at the gate), so it is a gut wrenching blow to any fan of a club that lives in a different state to where their club is based.

One can only hope that the AFL announces who each clubs opposition will be each year (both home and away) so we know how many games in Melbourne we will actually get, even if it means we don't know when exactly or what round the game will be held. Absolutely sucks for trying to plan your year out, but hopefully common sense prevails at AFL HQ that each club will know who / where they are playing, just not when. Given it is the AFL, I suspect they'll opt for chaos and manipulate the rolling draw to maximise their profit as best they can.

Fubar.

How in the world am I to plan rdo’s with a rolling fixture.

I need to give work advanced notice, and this isn’t going to work for me.

My understanding is that the AFL will release all details for rounds 1-6, and then for the remaining rounds we will find out who we are playing and where, just not what timeslot it will be.

So you'll know, for example, that in round 15 Brisbane are playing North Melbourne at Marvel, and you'll know because it's round 15 what weekend it will be, you just won't know where on that weekend it will fall.

I certainly hope that's the case - it's somewhat palatable if so. Means people can still plan to travel for a game, and just make sure they include the entire date range of the round in their trip. And obviously means Melbourne members will know how many games we will have there, what those rounds will be, and who we will be playing.

It's a pain in the arse for us Queenslanders as well, makes it hard to line up cheap flights and hotels for footy weekends in Melbourne, we usually plan it as soon as the draw comes out.

That's better than initially flagged. The big issue would be an unexpected Friday night game when you've booked flights for Saturday morning and out Sunday night. That never used to be an issue for us, but who knows in this crazy world where we're finishing 2nd on the ladder.

I assumed that was the case - I just hope they give decent lead time for the final announcements for each block of games. I have a fair bit of leave saved up so was thinking a few long weekends away for a footy trip could be on the cards. Even been thinking of trying to get to the Tassie game this year (assuming we always get one)

I was reading on afl.com this morning that clubs should get at least 4 weeks notice as to the day and time of the game for any particular round. I'm hoping to go to Melbourne for a footy weekend in 2021, minimum 2 games hopefully 3-4.

I’m going to be cheering Treloar every time he gets the near the ball.

With $300k/season of his wages coming from Collingwood we can calculate a Collingwood pay per possession for every game for five years.

I’m not going to get tired of that game.

If Adam repeats his 2020 season at the Bulldogs:
10 games at an average of 26.9 disposals.
Equates to approx. $1,115.24 per disposal.
Great work by the Doggies.

The Dogs are building a hell of a side that should see them easily back into the top 8 if not pushing for a flag, although their defence is a bit lacking.

Still gets me though that their number one pick qualified for them when by his own admission he played footy all his life with his family well before the Dogs “developed” him.

I'm sure the Bulldogs had a lot of sway in convincing a young kid from Warrnambool to play Aussie rules who had a sports scholarship from Scotch College, as well as had a dad who played local footy.

Amazing the uproar over the Northern academies hasn't been replicated about the farce which are the NGA's, wonder why that is...
There hasn’t been too much media wise because most of them are from Vic but there has been internally within the clubs which is why as of next year, bids for NGA’s in the first round can not be matched. No more JUH’s as of next year.
Northern Academies will remain as is for now.
