He can't. Must've been up there while injured. They mentioned in an article today that Houli is flying up Thursday to then complete his quarantine period.
Would he be vailable for our game?
A Blues poster mentioned elsewhere that Dow may look for a trade this year.
I wouldn't mind Dow. I really liked him in his draft year and l recon we can fix up his kicking, remember Bailey's kicking was pretty bad in his drft year but l would put him as one of our better ones now.

So I heard earlier from a pretty informed AFL person that Carlton are of the view that they are a big chance to get both Papley and Josh Kelly.

Knock me down with a feather, but how on earth can they fit all these players under the salary cap; back to brown paper bags, high profile jobs for their girlfriends that they otherwise wouldn't get?

With Cripps and Martin on a packet and then having to pay the likes of Walsh, Curnow etc., I don't see how they can fit such high profile players onto their list, notwithstanding, how they'd satisfy trades etc.

Martin will drop in cap hit next year because he was massively frontloaded this year.

Cripps is getting paid but other than that everyone else won't be on much of anything. Walsh and Curnow probably have a couple of years before demanding a massive packet, though North might have something to say about that given their system of "is he out of contract? let's offer them $1m a year".

I doubt they have the trade assets to get them both in this year unless they're trading out someone like Walsh.

Yeah agree. Papley's value is only going north, with years to go on his contract (signed till 2022 isn't he?) he ain't being let go for anything under two first rounders. Then you have to get the Kelly deal done....

Hope Carlton get screwed royally with the trade. Deserve it.

Conversely, Collingwood have a pretty easy group of opponents despite a bit of travel:

v Fremantle (Perth) - 16th
v Sydney (Gabba) - 14th
v Adelaide (Adelaide) -18th
v Melbourne (Gabba) - 13th

I think I saw they've got one of the three easiest draws in terms of who they haven't played, having already played 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 9th, and they can't play 8th because they're in there. By comparison we've only played 1st, 3rd and 5th (and obviously rule out playing 2nd).

I actually find I'm liking the "play everyone once" system. The draw definitely feels more even as a result.

I've also felt that the timing of some of our games against certain opponents has felt like we are playing teams higher placed than they actually are i.e. GWS and Melbourne who if IIRC were sitting about 13th when we played them.

I'd agree with that. The compressed nature of the list has made it very misleading at times - play the right team and you jump from 13th to 7th, play the wrong team and you drop from 5th to 11th.

Anyone know how to get tickets for Port vs Demons tomorrow night?

Gabba site links to ticket master and ticket master doesn't have the game listed at all.
I read on the main board that there were no tickets available to the general public for this one, just 250 for each of the teams, apparently a cost saving measure as they thought there would be very little demand for tickets.

Thanks Jason that is a shame but exactly the reason why I posted was to get this type of info. This is a good match, I'm surprised that has happened. Port always have a decent support base in QLD.

There has to be a Kennett's type curse or jinx placed upon us with the Tigers?
Hyperbole, maybe but I honestly can't see us beating them ever again the way the last 16 years have gone.
(Cotchin is 15-0 when facing the Lions)

Richmond will smoke us. Ignoring how good they are, they have always been our bogey team. Personally, we should focus on the Essendon and Bulldogs game and accept that Richmond will beat us.

Pfftt, we had them by the short & curlys in the the first final. Owned them, a young inexperienced team just didn't put it on the scoreboard, that's all. I fear nothing from them this year.

The 4 day break means we have to do it with one arm behind our back.
