I don't understand how you could think you are qualified to coach after 7 years out of the game either. Putting aside the whole should he be allowed to ever coach again issue, he's had one 3 month stint helping out at GWS in that time since.
Speaks to a club far too wrapped up in itself too, with Sheedy having far far too much influence on the process. If they are smart this goes no further.

If I was one of the respected candidates in the running like Adam Yze, I would pull my name from contention right now. The fact that a guy that hasn't coached in almost a decade and who achieved nothing in his last gig has made it past the first stage and into formal interview rounds is all I need to know about Essendon as an organisation.
Wow lost for words. Why would Hird and his family want back in (apart from. dodgy tradies stealing there cash) and why would Essendon go with Hird. Essendon are delusional no question. Peptide after affects?

Voss and Hird both fail at their initial favourite son coaching appointments.
Voss goes away, realises what he needs to change and hones his craft and skills as Senior Assistant at another AFL Club and then wins a senior coaching role at a third AFL Club (in a third state for that matter)
Hird goes away (sadly he came back) and plays around with his business skills, never accepts that his own decisions or style were an issue, eventually dabbles in helping out as a sidekick at the GWS home of professionalism and success and then puts his hand up to go back the very same club that is in pretty much the same sad state as when he left it without any lessons learned (it seems) from either side.

a) no club could be so stupid/indulgent/idiotic - the world has changed optics count far more than they ever did - but it would be glorious if they did

Arrogance - there was nothing to see. It was a conspiracy. I am the best, and I want my rightful place back.
Probably wants to go back to a time when he was respected, liked and a big player in the club and AFL.
Won't happen though - everything has moved on around him.
I am not sure what it makes Jordan Lewis but having watched him on 360 thinking he is the next coming as to his role in this process, it blows my mind that a club just defers to a random group of outside people to have such a big say in the process noting that I no Josh Marney who is some GM there is on the panel. What a crapshow.
