I am not sure what it makes Jordan Lewis but having watched him on 360 thinking he is the next coming as to his role in this process, it blows my mind that a club just defers to a random group of outside people to have such a big say in the process noting that I no Josh Marney who is some GM there is on the panel. What a crapshow.

Did not sound like he had a clue about what he was doing.

This Hird to Essendon stuff is all good for a laugh. That is until a few seasons from now Essendon start asking for a priority pick.:D

Essendon Management 101 get unqualified people to make the decision you want and if it goes wrong blame them.
Get unqualified non-Essendon people in to look like they were in the decision loop and can be thrown under the bus if and when necessary ...

I remember Akka saying back in the day that he’d jump ship and play rugby if we recruited Wayne Carey. If I were an Essendon member and this s**t show eventuates, I think I’d microwave my scarf and join Collingwood
But the ones who remain would be 'united' so technically not a divisive figure at all (as long as you pick the right stat window) and all of the non-Essendon (ie plebs) folk would also be pretty much united so in that sense he is actually good for the game (and number of posts on BigFooty which is equally important if not more)

Clarko was an excuse to get rid of Rutten and get Hird.

They get a lot of ex bombers guys back to coach.
Who knows it could work.

You understand why Lyons and Cameron went nah not interested in the pretend coach hunt

Jeremy Sharpe has requested a trade back to WA, from Gold Coast, due to home sickness.

GC traded a future mid first round PP (pick 11) and a fourth round pick, for a mid late second round pick to draft him.

Excepted to go to Fremantle (to replace Acres on a wing).

Wonder how many 2019 WA kids Fremantle will chase over the next couple of seasons.

Jackson and Sharpe to start with.

They simply cannot go back to Hird…it would split the club…again

It is ultimately their call. If he has them 7-4 by the mid-season bye then the critics will drop off fast.

I do believe he wanted to be absolutely cutting edge and never intended to cheat but he did let some very dodgy foxes in the hen house which he has to carry the can for. Whether Essendon can forgive that is up to them.

You are very forgiving. One of the ‘dodgy foxes in the hen house’ just happened to be the guy providing the performance enhancing drugs and who had already been charged with drug offences. And who also happened to be a trainer for Hird in his playing days.

The bit where he was quoted that there were bad people in the club is stunning. He was one of them, but still can't accept his role in the fiasco.

That level of self delusion is impressive - like picking every game wrong in every round.

Love to be a fly on the wall listening to the playing group talk about this. Their opinion is incredible important. Get the decision wrong and they could lose a lot of players.

My theory is that they are interviewing Hird to keep the factions happy, but I can't see them appointing him. Forgetting the culture for a second, you can't think that sponsors and the parents of players & draftees would be all that comfortable. I just can't see a way they do it.

it is Essendon :)
I fully expect he will get the job.
The golden child returns

This. He was coach. The buck stops there. If he ever had the character to accept responsibility, I could accept his rehabilitation - whilst enjoying Essendon stewing in their own juices for another 5 years. Delicious.

It seems their supporters have very short memories.....why on earth would the club bring back as coach the very man who brought the club to its knees!

Can't imagine any big business doing such a thing....

...if it was our club, think back to our dark days, would we want any of those people back in to run the place? The mind boggles at the thought!

...but not at Essendon, he's their hero. Unbelievable.

I have no idea why Sheedy is on the board - he’d be the last person I’d want there

I lost respect for Hird after his ungracious sooky, sulky losing captain's speech when we pantsed them in the 2001 GF.

Nothing he has said or done since then has changed my opinion of him.
I never took much heed of that, I’ve always been a fan since the night I saw him take P Roos apart in about 1993. I doubt we will ever get to the truth about what happened at Essendon during that period, far too many questions remain unanswered and numerous people just disappeared into the night and were never heard of again. Hird ain’t innocent but he got left holding the baby for a few. I’m all for second chances but I can’t see how this fixes anything, it just drags the club back into the shit again. People are talking about making a mini series about Warnie…the best one would be about this saga because from my limited knowledge there’s a few people who should be worried if the true story (whatever that is) comes out.

I am unsure if they are still around but the two hologram stories in the Gallery of Sport featured S Warne & J Hird and both were spin tingling

makes me laugh how these idiotic boys club media pundits are falling over themselves over Hird, but a current player says he doesn't reckon Hird is the right choice.

well done Zach Merrett. Don't be afraid to ensure you have a coach who has the players safety as his priority.

edit: disregard it all completely.... good lord what a shitshow
