Awesome, f*cking with form in a 10 game seaon is dumb as hellcrows have rested 5 players to be fresh for the finals likely against us next week for a rematch up there
Sounds like they got the rub of the green. For all the geometry nerds out there, check this out...
I've looked back on the 3x 50 metre penalties paid during the game that all resulted in goals. I've established the distances based on there being 5 cuts of the grass within the centre square, which is of course, 50 metres, and so therefore every change in cut is 10 metres.
So the first 50m penalty our way for Tahlia's goal ended up being almost exactly correct and that's indisputable as the mark was originally 3 metres outside the 50 metre arc and ultimately the mark was set towards the back half of the goal square. So fair play for that one.
The second one which went the Crows way when Kim Rennie caught the player high in the second quarter measures out to about 55 metres*. It started about 10 metres forward of wing and the mark was set less than 25 metres from goal.
The third one from the last quarter that went to the Crows when Jas Ferguson stepped off the mark ended up being about 60 metres*. The original mark was at least 5 metres backward of centre and clearly on the sponsor logo, so it was about 15 metres further back than the previous one. Fergie ultimately stood the mark at just under 30 metres out.
*I should also point out that the above estimates are fundamentally flawed, as the measurement of the 10 metres per cut of grass is in a straight line goal mouth to goal mouth whereas a 50 metre penalty on the wing does not go in a straight line perpendicular to the cuts of grass. Instead, they go directly towards the goal mouth. What that means is my calculations are based on the adjacent length of a right angle triangle instead of the hypotenuse. I could bore you all with more calculations to establish the third length of the triangle but in essence, you can add another 3 metres to each of my measurements to account for angle towards the goal.
So in review, one Adelaide 50 metre penalty was about 58 metres and the other about 63 metres.
Considering the rate of injuries in this comp it's probably a good idea.Awesome, f*cking with form in a 10 game seaon is dumb as hell
There's a late out apparently?
Christ we made that hard.
Mia King is rested. Emma is on ground.Emma King not playing? injured or dropped?
She kicked the first goal?Emma King not playing? injured or dropped? I would make that a permanent change. Crocks needs to tinker with the team if we are to beat Adelaide & Melbourne. They both have more run than us.
Pretty good straight line speed once she's on the move. Not particularly quick over the first 5 and is slow if she has to change direction. Why is Sheirlaw so quick on the lead but looks like the queen mary in general play? She is a perplexing player. Can look very ordinary at times.
