s**t look because, if I recall correctly, around that time we were fielding WAFL players because we didn't have enough seniors to field a side.

Would re-signing injury-prone players whilst simultaneously not having enough AFL quality players in reserve be considered tanking?

Asking for a mate.

Sounds like the ladder position is by design, if that's what's been happening.

Quite so.

Tom Campbell? Can’t think of anyone else though
Excellent example! Now thst I think of it I bet there are quite a few reserve ruckman with very few games played.

Rucks are a very strange role almost with their own rules about list management.

North are tanking though. They have been engineering losses for years now. This is a plan.
You think North "planned" the following:
  • Appointing a first time head coach only for him to quit due to mental health issues less than a year into his tenure
  • Our President lives in Sydney.
  • Hiring Paul Roos to lead the process of appointing a new coaching staff.
  • Paul Roos recommends David Noble.
  • Paul Roos, who was meant to act as a mentor for David Noble, leaves Australia and literally starts phoning in his job.
  • President quits (good thing), hire a new President (she's great)
  • Our highest draft pick in two decades gets a serious bout of glandular fever.
  • David Noble is terrible.
  • Recruiters responsible for poor drafting in recent years quit, trying to claim they had actually done a good job despite results? These same recruiters were the ones who desperately wanted JHF and advocated against accepting the Crows trade offer.
  • Fire David Noble.
  • Hire the most successful coach in modern AFL history.
  • Our first ever #1 pick walks out on the club less than a year after being drafted.
  • Change of CEO.
  • Literally a few weeks after hiring him, Clarko is mired in a scandal because his former club absolutely botched a review into allegations of racism.
  • Off-field issues mean star Tarryn Thomas is essentially suspended for half the season.
  • Multiple injuries to key players, such as our KPD we got by trading the 2nd round pick given to us by the AFL doing his ACL.
  • Clarko takes half the season off due to mental health pressures stemming from the botched Hawthorn scandal. Ratten becomes our 7th head coach (including interims) in the space of the last 4 years (Scott, Shaw, Crocker, Noble, Adams, Clarko, Ratten)
And this isn't even a fully comprehensive list.

You look at all of that, most of which wasn't the "fault" of NMFC, and you really think this was some genius and orchestrated plan to tank?

Really dude?!

100 percent correct! We engineered everything!

We developed the Covid 19 virus and released it to the world (letting it go in China to throw The AFL Integrity Unit off the scent).

Covid gave us the reason to lock up our players and coach would trigger mental illness in our coach and cause the player group to implode.

We then employed Paul Roos to assist us in getting a dud coach who blew up the club further.

And lastly we had Hawthorn commission a dodgy investigation and report just so our coach would have a breakdown and step away from coaching this year.

Next level genius to bring those factors together to engineer a threepeat of spoons.

I mean they could atleast try to hide it, right?

Won’t respond.

Has nothing to say when it’s laid out like that.
Do you know what gish gallop is? I could respond to all of that trash and you would just keep listing more. Watch a North game, watch a Hawks game, spot the difference. One club is full of high grade talent, the other plays to win.

But just to pick one of your insane list at random, you have chosen that your club chairman lives in Sydney.

Wow. I don't even know how to respond to that. I don't even know what it means. Clearly proof that you aren't tanking though right?

You should have known what you were getting with Roos . Absolute elite snake oil salesman . Talked him into a job he didnt really want and he fleeced you which was no suprise.
It was a Malcolm Blight to St Kilda appointment

And you knew full well what Clarko had ahead of him when you appointed him . It wasn't a huge secret. Your club wanted him ( fair enough ) but knew of the risk attached to the appointment.

The rest is a mix of bad luck , poor timing , bad management , appointments and poor development .

If you unpick any part of their insane list they will just keep adding to it. Better to just focus on how they actually play. I.e. to lose.

The thing is they arent tanking imo. They are a very ordinary side and club wise have made poor decisions over a long period of time.
Development of players is their main issue ......plenty of higher picks/talent to work with

You don't think they actively made choices to try to weaken rather than strengthen their list, and then made on field decisions to further that scheme? They had some horrendous luck (especially cunnington) and some poor development (basically everyone) but the first time they ever tried to actually improve their situation was when the AFL forced them (by giving them PP they has to trade for mature talent).

Comparing to our club, they could have gotten guys like Amon and Impey that would have solved their lack of midfield speed problems and really empowered the club, but they never tried to help themselves, because they wanted ever more assistance instead.

It was engineered to be like this.

What? No one knew about Clarkson or Fagan.

Man, if you're just going to dismiss the factual accounting of events that have impacted the club to support your nonsense and subjective position, there's really no point in further engagement.

Don't recall North having an injury crisis 2 years running + Covid.
North Melbourne has used more players than West Coast this year.

If West Coast is losing games because the list doesn't have enough AFL quality players, then perhaps, to use your terminology, that is by design.

There is no point in engaging with a constantly growing gish gallop. Every time you pull one down another one just grows up. There was meaningful bad luck at NM, but there was also no effort to manage it.

As an example, the worst thing to happen to NM during the period we are discussing was the loss of cunnginton. But NM never attempted to deal with the situation by bringing in any of the players who were easily available who could have solved the problem (like say Crouch). Instead they took advantage of their genuine misfortune to further their tanking agenda.

In contrast, when my club really lacked outside speed in the midfield (which your club does too) we actively went out to rectify the problem. We engineered wins (as best as we could considering the last time we had a top 5 pick it was when Johnny Howard was PM)
