Dang. We need to get 20 - 22,000 people at these games or else it is too much of a loss to the club. We can get 18,000 to a Freo game, why not 20,000 to a Port one

At least we were vocal...great venue in terms of small crowds being able to create an atmosphere :)

I was thinking the same thing, why do Port Adelade draw small crowds in Melbourne even compared to a side like Freo. Even with last weeks game against Brisbane 27,000 odd people attended & no way known did Brisbane have 8,000 - 10,000 more supporters than Port Adelaide.

I just feel & I said it before the match, if this game was going to be played on a Sunday then it SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLAYED IN CANBERRA, end of story. This was a great chance for these people who jump up & down & use the excuse we don't / won't buy a membership ticket because of playing games in Canberra. Well like I said before it is just an excuse, these people are fickle & would more than likely be bragging at this very minute we beat Port Adelaide by 92 points, pitty they weren't out there supporting the blokes.

I know many people on here may think I am being tough but yesterdays match LOST us thousands & playing it in Canberra even with a crowd half this size we would have made a profit.

Those people who could not attend due to things out of their control like work, weddings, being out of town or other commitments I am not having a go at you people & I make that clear.

The crowd, albeit small, was very, very loud, it was awesome when we kicked our 10th for the 3rd term, and the whole crowd just chanted North Melbourne for about 3 minutes, that was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, when we play in Melbourne we usually either win convincingly or go down like bitches. Either way, its not a contest with a lot of interest.

Two, no-one hypes up playing against Port Adelaide when we're in Melbourne except maybe Sheedy & Eddie. Everyone other club seems to ready to write it off as a financial loss beforehand, rather than spruik interest.

Three, you win too damn often and aren't nasty enough about it. There's no rivalry....at least Roos and Freo have a decent interchange of players and wins/losses.

You could have a few good points there Porthos. I know there might be a few people on here that may disagree with me, but considering our record against Port has been great I have rated Port Adelaide pretty high & am often surprised they don't get crowds here in Melbourne.

On Fremantle maybe the fact of the number of players changing between North & Fremantle over the years like Bell, Anderson & Mann all leaving in controversial circumstances might bring a bit of angro out for instance.

I know other than maybe Round 1 this year we often get good crowds against the Crows & I can honestly say as far back as 1991 North & Adelaide have put on some great matches.

All in all I still feel the AFL have a lot to answer for when fixturing these type of matches. I'm still scratching my head wondering why on earth was the North & Bulldogs match played in Canberra & this match played in Melbourne. In future if the AFL aren't going to give us a Saturday or Friday night game against Fremantle, Port Adelaide or West Coast at Telstra Dome which is popular amongst North fans, I sure hope it is played in Canberra.

Just one other thing I would also like to mirror the words of Northboi96, the crowd that did turn up did make a fair bit of noise which I am sure the players would have appreciated, great stuff people.
