No but the point is they drop senior players who aren't performing well

Yes, in order for us to do that we need to demote them from captaincy first

Captains are very rarely dropped ever

So, this is after the Dogs came out breathing fire in the 2nd. Red time is on, We get a clearance from Wardlaw and he hits up Ford lace out.

Ford looks ahead and see this shit. How can there be more Dogs players in their back 50 than North? Where are our numbers? Match them up! Get 1v1s and pull them away from the space being clogged up. Look far left side of the ground, NO ONE leads there and the ball goes to a contest with like five North players and none get a finger to it. Why do they all go to the one spot? That literally makes it so easy for the Dogs to clear. They just need to spread from the contest after it's intercepted.

Shit work rate. Lazy.
While it's not uncommon for mids to not move into their own forward 50 (but they're expected to when it's defensive 50) in order to keep it free with space, the worst bit about this is without even watching what happens after, I can almost guarantee that all of our mids clumped up to the right of the 50m arc got out worked on turnover by the dogs mids who are 20m further left of them.

Seated close to where this played out, immediate thought was, ffs Eddie move it on quickly! Reckon he didn’t pull the trigger quick enough allowing them to get the numbers back. You’re spot on about what happened next.

They were bad.
Just not as bad as us who have done it back to back to back to back to back.

The Oliver/Petracca draft built their flag side.

Sheezel and Wardlaw hopefully the same for us.

It’s just the free agents they got in through May and Lever.

We can’t continue to build through the draft as Clarko said and expect to get results. The time to land some names is now.
Our record is worse, but they were in the same conversation of shitness.

Took them 7 seasons to win the flag from the Petracca/Brayshaw 2014 draft if we use that as a line in the sand.

May came in 2019. Lever 2018.

4 players in the premiership team were on the list before that draft. Gawn, Viney, McDonald, Salem. 5 if you count Jones who was still around.

They drafted the guts of the team, then went and traded for need.

I find them an intereresting example as they were basically at our level.

What could our team look like 7 years after the Sheezel/Wardlaw draft?

Out numbered 13 to 7 forward of the centre square line, that must look just as bad to Eddie as it does to me

The really weird thing about this is that when the inevitable turnover occurs, the ball rockets through the midfield and our defenders look to be just as outnumbered as the forwards.

That's appalling. Ten players to seven in the 50.

Only real option is to hit X on the 50m line.

There were a bunch of extenuating circumstances that created the margin on Sunday.

There was still a lot of anger inducing bullshit to go along with those things we couldn’t control.

End of the year cannot come quick enough.

It would be interesting to see another shot of where the players ended up by the time the ball was kicked to see the running patterns.
