Aaron Edwards caught speeding

"KANGAROO Aaron Edwards will miss the first four games of 2009 after being caught speeding this morning with alcohol in his system.''

"Edwards was pulled over by police this morning while driving to training after being clocked travelling 38km per hour over the speed limit.''

Sounds like Edwards could be in a bit of trouble.

Re: Aaron Edwards caught drink driving

Very disappointing after we were the ones to give him another chance. Plenty of dedicated youngsters that can step into his role.

Re: Aaron Edwards caught drink driving

"With alcohol in his system"...does that mean he wasn't over the limit?
Which means the thread, although technically correct, is pretty poor. "Caught drink driving"...

Re: Aaron Edwards caught speeding

I should point out that he was pulled over for speeding not drink driving. There was alcohol in his body however they do not specify if he was over the limit or not.

Re: Aaron Edwards caught drink driving

Idiot
$5k,all NAB games and four H&A games,Azza better come back in rnd 5 and blitz

He HAS to have one foot in the grave, and as pointed out on our board, Smith, Wundke and Tarrant are all lining up for his spot.

A monumentally stupid act.

i agree its bullshit that the title says caught drink driving when according to the HS, he was only found to have it in his system. Are footballers no longer allowed to have a good time?

Re: Aaron Edwards caught speeding

Hey. I do appologise for the heading as i jumped the gun before reading the article 100%. If anyone knows how to edit the title would they be able to tell me. Thanks

Re: Aaron Edwards caught drink driving

Well I better leave then:rolleyes:

{maybe you should}

Re: Aaron Edwards caught drink driving

"Drink driving" is a promotional term and doesn't have a legal definition, so I believe the thread title is fine.

Granted, "caught speeding" would be more accurate.

{already changed}

Re: Aaron Edwards caught drink driving

Well handled North.

Dealt with in a swift and forceful manner and sends a strong message to everyone at the club.

Clubs are now handling these situations much better, and have learnt from the Collingwood fiasco from last season.

Aaron Edwards may now find himself surplus to requirements if a youngster can grab the bull by the horns and take his spot.

He may've simply had a Bubble O'Bill, which could explain the grog content in his breath.

Would a reasonable person interpret the title to mean that he was caught driving while drunk, ie over the limit?

I know I did, but maybe I'm not reasonable

Probably, but we don't actually know that he wasn't :p There's also the question of what constitutes "drink" driving, maybe he'd had one or two, and wasn't over the limit, but he's still been "drink" driving.

Anyway, obviously he has been caught speeding, and the thread title's been changed to fit the crime, so all's well... unless you're Aaron Edwards.

He's a dill, but I also think that it's overblown because it's a footballer. If I drove 38km/h over the limit it wouldn't make the papers. One has to keep this stuff in context. It shouldn't really affect his chances of selection beyond the suspension, and if it does it's only penalising the team (if form would otherwise warrant selection).

Re: Aaron Edwards caught speeding

Another one for the hand wringers to get over excited about.

7 weeks of potential match payments for a speeding infringement.
Can just imagine that going down really well in the rest of the world.

"Sorry Johnny, they caught you speeding, so sorry, no wages for you for 7 weeks"
