Discussion North Melbourne's home jumper going forward

North in all blue again.

The switch is official now.
I like it. But I'm not a North fan.

If the switch is permanent, I'm real curious to see what happens next time North host Collingwood. I've mentioned this before in this thread, but I'd love to see if the Pies were made to wear all white. And Eddie's reaction.

North went from MCG to Etihad without a formal announcement, now they are changing their jumper without a formal announcement.

Are they hoping if they hide under some blankets it will all go away.

And does this officially move Geelong's 2016 clash jumper to jumpers never worn?

If I was a North supporter I'd be annoyed. While I love North's inverse jumper, to switch jumpers merely because of a tantrum over wearing blue shorts is immature and backward. As a fan, I'd be annoyed because there was no fan/member consultation, and that North have relegated their premiership jumper to clash/away status aka West Coast and Collingwood (although to be fair, Collingwood have won a premiership in their black with white stripes).

I wouldn't say our Royal Wings has been relegated to an away jumper, Id say its used away as obviously we have had to travel for GFs so it is more fitting as a travel uniform than a home one.

It really does look as though the royal jumper has now become their de facto home jumper, which is incredibly disappointing. I can understand the frustration at being forced into white shorts in home games, but they really should be pushing the AFL to allow them to wear blue more often where there is no clash issue (such as today - North in white/blue and Port in all black would cause zero clash issues), rather than changing their home uniform just to wear blue shorts. If I was a North fan, I'd be mighty upset.

Do we know for sure this was done as a means to wear blue shorts more often?

Their media manager tweeted a few things that suggested this to be the case a while back when they wore full royal in their home game against Carlton. See below:

2nd time this year North are wearing the royal blue kit in a home game. Then this from North's communications manager.

Is this an admission that they've made the switch officially?

Was there any consultation when Collingwood made that inverse?

I doubt there was any consultation when we changed to the original tri panel and the current eagle head.

I can understand the sore point it'll make with fans and members who love that jumper, however much like me coming to understand why Collingwood made the switch, I can under why North may be doing the same.

What will be deeply disappointing however, will be if the current clash becomes the home, and the bounding roo replaces the current home as the away/clash.

My mistake. Carry on.
Actually, somewhere buried in the >14,000 posts on the RTW thread is an article printed when the last version of the tripe anal was announced. It referenced the so-called consultation that took place and "market research" they had used. It was flimsy at best.

Why would Eddie care, he's never had a problem with Colllingwood wearing the black on white strip in away games...

Big 4 Clubs don't wear clash strips against each other (Ess v Rich the only exception). For games against minor clubs like St Kilda, North, etc. it's not a big deal.

Both those statements are ****ing stupid and shouldn't be allowed in a professional league, there shouldn't be one rule for the "Big 4" and one rule for everyone else.

And yet there is, and it's ****ing ridiculous.

Can't upset the traditionalists yo.

It's a suburb in Perth. Upper to middle class mostly, quite a nice area.

I work with campaigners from Wembley.

Snobby campaigners at that.

There was a time when Carlton v Collingwood clash was something I'd set aside time for. Now there are two reasons I don't bother:
1) Both teams are shit and I get plenty of quality footy just sticking to my own team,
2) The game is broadcast under lights with camera positioning located on the Hubble Space Telescope, and from long distance they're wearing what might as well be the SAME F###ING JUMPER!!!

At 46, I'm too busy and way too impatient, never mind my deteriorating eyesight, to wait for fossilised clubs - especially Collingwood, because since 2001 this has been their fault - to get their shit together and put on a product worth watching...
