Let's complain to the AFL that we didn't win enough games to secure a home final. And now those big bad North boys aren't trying. Somebody, please make them try!

Spare me.

Save your outrage for something that matters.
This.

Besides, I have fond memories of us playing the Bulldogs at the MCG in finals.

Well said.
I also don't think this needs its own thread when there's already like 2 or 3 others on this board alone discussing it too lol.

Maybe this needs to be looked at for the final round next year. Teams that finished in top 8 should be drawn to play teams 11 to 18 in last round. Or maybe the last round matchups should be decided later in the season. I am not sure the best way.

This could backfire incredibly on North. If Gold Coast beat Sydney and Richmond belt North then Sydney will likely finish 5th just on percentage.

You would think North would rather guarantee a first final in Melbourne by winning. Strange.
The issue is North finish 8th unless we lose to Geelong and they win. So they really have nothing to play for.
The big loser in all this is us.
We lose our chance at a home final (which wouldn't be against NM).
WBD finish 5th or 6th regardless, assuming they beat Brisbane, which could be carved in stone.
Richmond get gifted a home final.
WBD get home ground advantage against us. Richmond get their home final locked in (rather than playing us away). NM gets to rest their players. So they are fresher next week, against Richmond again.
Good old Victoria looking after their own.

As a neutral it doesn't sit right with me..

It's no different to tanking for the number 1 draft pick.

It's manipulating the Finals Fixture so Adelaide don't get a home final and North get to face Richmond who they believe they can beat..
They've earnt the right to do what they like & as they see fit. Its called strategy.

Very unlucky for us how the fixture has turned out.

Still, we won our last game in Melbourne by 20 goals. We can win away.

Most of us don't disagree with you, I'd suggest it's the AFL's bending of the rules as it see fit that irks us.

Why, earlier this week it was you can only rest that amount of players if there's no effect on the competition's integrity - for instance, Freo resting 11 against your mob because neither ladder position will be affected. Norf's resting is done only to affect ladder position.

You are correct. I believe the rule states that it should not be done to manipulate the finals draw. I need to check the wording.
