I'm so popular the monthly thread goes up before I've even thought of a title

Anyway, as we mop up the corpses of the victims of Cup Day, it's great to see the Kyneton Cup is now being shared around Victoria

This year it's been moved to Bendigo, next year it'll go to Dunkeld, and after that it'll go to Bairnsdale

Other than that, apparently there's a couple of races on at Flemington on Thursday and Saturday?

Dunkeld Cup abandon this year. So far the cups that have been lost this spring - Gunbower, Avoca, Mortlake, Wycheproof and Dunkeld. Might be a couple of others due to the long wet

Just watched the race.
One for the ages.
Felt sorry for Knights Order backers, that ticket was in the bin early, closely followed by Smoken Romans backers.

Like a Tour de France stage and there is a breakaway from the peleton.
Team rules say someone's gotta go.
SR gets the nod.

Jamie Kah will get a good sling tonight.
Trailled the team mates in beautifully.

And Kyneton transplanted to Bendigo tomorrow

Going to be interesting over the next couple of weeks with at least one Country cup every Sunday

It'll be interesting to see how many in that field win another race.
It was an absolute gut buster for some of them.

Stockman SPing at $16 is some crazy stuff. ROF was always unders, someone must have absolutely crushed Stockman late.

I mean it met ROF better from the metrop on weights and SP basis and had produced good runs since so the gap to them had to be closed to some extent. It was just a completely laughable formline to go looking for. Wonder if we will ever hear why.

That's why Waller dodged it with a few of his this year. The prizemoney is good but no point busting the horse up for 10th place prizemoney.

Dodging it with your horses in peak form almost never ever works. Got to strike while the iron is hot!

If you plan to win the cup yeah but if you have a horse that might run top 10 then you are going to be better off financially picking off the Queen Elizabeth, Sandown Cup, staying races in the Autumn etc and not risk burying the horse for good in the cup.

The problem is they rarely come back as good in the Autumn...or ever again.

Could always target the perf cup.

Yep the time to target any race is when the horse is in form. Particularly with stayers and 3yos. So many just go off the boil and never regain that form again regardless.

Cotton wool boys gon cotton wool though

Early odds for the Victoria Oaks (From Sportsbet):

She's Extreme $2.60
Zennzella $5.50
Renaissance Woman $8.50
Pavitra $9.50
Foxy Cleopatra $8.50
Let'sbefrankbaby $26
As Time Goes By $14
Queen Air $7.50
Sirius Princess $101
Makrana $46
Albanian Icon $201

in a 11 horse field

Can see Linus legend smashing them in the last, up against the outside rail ala Vespertine, on stakes day. The big boy has been gelded and his last start at Geelong, after over racing early, and not handling the bend at all, was the run of a horse who would love the straight. 30/1 for a horse that was once close to single figures in Caulfield Guinea’s betting last year…
