Okay i get that Mazenod could utilise both grounds but they could do that every 2nd weekend anyway because GW play away. But how will the new facilities be utilised? Mazenod is not going to use both social rooms? Council has just spent millions of dollars at the reserve.
They also have access another ground at Mazenod College.

I’d say that, largely, they won’t be utilised. There’s certainly no other footy clubs in the area looking for a home I wouldn’t have thought.

It’ll probably also be lost to the EFL as a finals venue.

I think it’d only be the Waverley Blues, given traditionally it was Waverley’s ground. No idea whether they’d be looking to move though, most clubs value their home and don’t want to relocate.

Is it going to be finished before the first Saturday in October?

I think they should just scrap the Southern league and move them to the EFNL and have 16/18 teams per division and have as many divisions as required as that will get it out the way quicker than the slow burn that we have now. Casey Council elections I think are in 2025 so Hallam should.

As you can tell by the bottom club (and sometimes the top club) in every division it's hard enough to get 10 local clubs in an evenly matched division, let alone 18! Top waaaaaaaay too far from the bottom.

10 is the ideal in local footy, the right season length and totally fair fixture.

Any chance any of you who are on Facebook check out the Mitcham Football Clubs site. The sleeping giant of the EFNL is awake and ready to make the next biggest step.BUT for what happened at Walker Park last Sunday is one of the best things I have seen in local footy and recommend you look at the MFC facebook page.A group of Ringwood supporters plus kids despite their defeat picking up the rubbish where their supporters were standing and putting in the bins we had there after the game and it was raining.Ringwood did the same with our rooms and South Belgrave the same with our rooms.PS For the very few posters that post on here very few are on FB it seems.

10,000 through the gates over 4 weeks. That’s some handy cashola! Amazing effort.
Brilliant ground.

At the end of next year ALL clubs are expected to have both a netball and a women's football team. If your club doesn't currently have them, get moving.

Ha sure, no problems… let’s just create the players out of thin air
It's in the EFNL 5 year strategic plan (slide 7) that began in 2019. Not sure of what happens if you don't have these teams. Does the league give you assistance or do they just take you off the shelf, dust you off and put you back again.

Take a look at the number of girls teams versus boys teams in junior ranks.

On top of that we have the lowest number of U19 boys teams in years, there’s considerable work ahead just to maintain male teams and clubs.

The biggest drop off you have is between junior and senior footy, 18yo girls have plenty of other priorities on their hands just as 18yo boys do.

Good for the league if they want to work with clubs in this area but imposing some sort of “expectation” would be laughed out of the room.

Womens and mens footy will always be in different divisional structures so if some clubs don’t have them, it’s not the end of the world.

Or if it is that important, how about one team per club to spread numbers? Senior clubs would probably find it easier to have a women’s team if their 5 best U16 girls players weren’t poached by Vermont every year. The more things change…

Isn't that what a Business plan is all about?
It's what the league wants to have happen. It may not be what some clubs want, but because it is something the League has decided, it should be on them to assist clubs to achieve the Leagues expectations and not just demanding them to do it, but to actually help clubs get teams up.
Interestingly half of the clubs in Premier Division and 4 Clubs in Division 1 do not have Netball teams. Divisions 2, 3 and 4 have 2 clubs in each grade without a Netball team. In other words 16 or one third of the League Clubs don't have a netball team. You would think that at the very least every club should have a Netball team by now, seeing since 2019 it has been the Eastern Football Netball League.

The inclusion of netball in metro leagues was ludicrous and just a cheap political play to boost their participation numbers. Melbourne has ample netball leagues at all levels on every day of the week and the last thing needed was more. Footy clubs don’t have netball facilities and don’t gather on Friday nights. It makes no practical sense at all and is very hard to properly include netball in the club in a genuine way.

Men's and women's football makes a lot more sense, especially since the advent and growth of women's football.

I see women's football and netball teams competing for the same players. I know netball is Friday night and football is Saturday but seriously they can't expect people to play both days just to field women's football and netball teams.

There is feedback in some other league threads that the EFNL competition is nowhere near the standard of the other football leagues (YVMDFL, SEFNL, OEFNL and the leagues in Gippsland) and that it is not much better than social standard.

As Cliff said, there are plenty of metropolitan netball associations to cater for netball. The worry is if clubs have to start looking for junior netball teams. This works fine in country sport where senior and junior sports are played at the same location on the same day, but the model fails in metro sport.

All this is nice & good but I personally hope a club like Doncaster is putting significant effort into fielding a 19s side in 2023 (they are) & are not distracted by a pre covid plan to appease some outside noise.
Priories can’t be the same for all clubs, much like people they are all different & face different challenges.

I can’t believe it ever happened, imagine if basketball leagues or something in Melbourne decided to set up Sunday football comps for their clubs for some absurd reason, AFL Vic would have it shut down before it even started.

On another topic I would expect that GMac will be on here a bit in the lead up to the GF.

Not sure where you coming from but have all ready posted on BF about the 2nd Div GF day and if you check out the MFC FB page you will know where I am coming from plus what I have posted on BF.I am life member of both the footy and cricket clubs at Mitcham and never so proud of the way we have re built our clubs. As for Walker Park the EFNL had a poll recently and Walker Park was voted the best in the EFNL and we can rightly claim the title of the MCG of the East perhaps, lol.

I cannot believe that you have forgotten that the Swans are playing in the GF on the weekend.
