Think there may be a couple more heading elsewhere including Ferntree Gully who are being quite aggressive in trying to recruit 'home grown' talent back to the club.

I was gonna say… is it just me or would FTG be a powerhouse if they actually retained all their juniors. They seem to lose them all.

Josh Begley to Boronia huge get. Not sure if it’s full time or only when he’s not playing for Frankston Vfl

Pretty proud of him at Upper Gully aren’t they? Will be playing against them which is a kick in the guts.

They don't lose them all. They are good at developing them and higher division clubs regularly 'poach' them with all sorts of promises, many of which are false and never come to fruition. Often as a result many players just walk away from the game disillusioned.

Begley has a lot of friends at Boronia and UFTG has changed significantly since he left. He really has no ties to Upper any more. Will not be playing at Frankston any more.

Its understandable considering 7 ex FTG played in the Mitcham 1's preliminary final loss this year. Also the Mitcham vice captain has departed already as per their facebook page.

However I had heard that Nick Hallo from The Basin was heading to Mitcham to join his brother so may not be all bad for them. Saw him play a couple of finals this year, he is a star.
Nick is a fantastic player and will again be at The Basin in 2023.

Hearing from a usually solid source that Alex Barton-Smith winner of Mitchams B&F is heading back to Ferntree Gully.
Alex Barton-Smith not going back to Gully and has signed with Mitcham again. FTG believed they had their man.

Also was inboxed in here that Kyle Hird is staying at Fairpark. No chance of going to Lilydale.

Interesting Barton Smith is not going back to Ferntree Gully as I was informed he was 'over the line' from someone at the Eagles who was very confident he was onboard for 2023.

Boronia were stiff a few years ago when they won the flag and there was no promotion. At that time they would have certainly 'held their own' in division 1 as they had depth that was the envy of most clubs. I think they are trying to build something by adding some recruits to their strong batch of homegrown players who whilst good/ competitive are not quite up to winning a premiership as yet.

Got close with ABS but he is probably better staying at Mitcham for the near future. Always gotta try to get former players back to any club particularly those performing at higher level. Might be an announcement early next week after talking to several possibles. If we get another one in as good as Flanners this year we will be happy as well as several young blokes also stepping up.

I wonder if winning the best and fairest complicated things at all? Grand Final day at Bayswater he was back at gully from some people pretty close to him.

Slight tangent from EFNL but we share the same grounds.

You've got to wonder what we're actually paying our local councils for. BHRDCA, ECA and FTGDCA have all called off Round 1 due to the state of grounds. Most grounds haven't been used by footy for over a month, and while it was a wetter than average winter, we've had a drier than usual September. So how are there so many grounds unplayable that these decisions are being made association wide by Wednesday? Are they seriously that poorly maintained by council?
Judging by my backyard after the last couple of days, cricket might not get started for a couple more weeks.

They always had great U19s teams but they couldn’t field a team this year which could hurt them in the future with no kids coming through

To all people posting on here about the Mitcham player movements please look at our clubs FB page. Our club FB page has the largest following in the EFNL and we think it is a great social media to promote our club.As for Walker Park being the MCG of the East we have worked so hard off field with that one as well and never so proud of 100 plus volunteers for our club young and old including Mitcham Cricket Club people helping us out D2 grand final day.A great day for our club plus both Ringwood and South Belgrave cleaned their rooms out.Even better Ringwood FC cleaning up their area where there supporters in the rain and putting in our rubbish bins we had around our ground and they lost the game, how good is that.

Huge get for Mulgrave Former Western Bulldogs player Lin Jong

Hopefully you are on FB and make comment where our football club is at.
If I want to see that many ads between some relevant content it’s far easier just to flick on the TV.

Someone had to say it. 😜

Did notice Zak Carroll will not be at Mitcham for 2023. Been a very good player at 3 EFL clubs & is a great guy.

Any idea what he is up to G?

Thats great for Mulgrave, they have just been paddling in recent years. It feels like they have been in a relegation battle for a decade. Hopefully they can improve with a signing like this.

Who said he will not be at Mitcham and he was vice captain in the 2019 premiership team not 2022.Keep reading the MFC FB page and you will get all the latest updates from the MCG of the East.As for your comments about giving our sponsors a plug on FB important to promote them by using fence signs,FB and use on video screens within our club rooms. We are not the only club going down this path and if you want to know what is going around clubs look at their club sites on FB as well. A plug for Doncaster, good to see they are trying to form a U19 team next season and hopefully you guys can get a team on the park.

As a follow up to my post please look at the Nunawading FC FB page.As we know a club that has sadly struggled to survive over the last few years.Spoke to their president a few months back and their aim is to be debt free by the end of this season. No one wants clubs like Nuna to fold (or any club)
with their 100th year only a couple of seasons away.

Straight from the esteemed FB.

After several conversations over the last few months, Zak Carroll informed me today that he will no longer continue at the Mitcham Football Club. It’s been refreshing to have some open and honest chats with Zak about the clubs future and what that meant for him.
