I actually think for Brisbane it’s Haas and Walsh. Haas was average for NSW so can be sketchy in big games, was also huge last week. If he stands up he can really dent the Penrith defence.

Walsh has to limit the errors without losing the spark. He’s shown he’s a big game player too though.

Ultimately Brisbane has to be exceptional, Penrith just has to play to standard. Makes me favour Penrith but I hope I’m wrong, I’m a broncos fan but also just really hate Penrith (whilst respecting them immensely)

Start is key. Need some composure and no errors as Penrith have the big game experience.
If we go down 8 or 10-0, I can't see us coming back.

Im predicting the refs will give us an early penalty to settle us.

Broncos 20-16 Panthers

Ponga Dally M was...surprising.

Hell of a run but the system is a bit broken for him to have been on 6 points after round 12 and somehow won haha.

You can never please everyone if anyone can name a better system all ears he was winning by more under the other system

They got the team of the year spot on. Very glad they picked Ezra Mam over Walker/Munster.

I don't love how the whole night is done tbh. For all the shit the Brownlow cops, it's a far more professional night.

I just watch the last 10-14 mins you get the team of the year and the last few rounds that’s enough lol

The Dally M awards are just overall better, the best players in each position get celebrated, the awards make more sense and frankly even the voting is more coherent (albeit rejigging it this year was a little weird).

Yeah don't have an issue with either awards. I do like the Brownlow for the event. The only thing I will say, would prefer the Dally M not on a Wednesday as it's a bit late in the week.

Amazingly i actually agree with you LP.

All the talk of the Brownlow being broken this week has been amusing, its always been an award voted for by the umpires, its also always thrown out weird results. I dont really care if they change it (would prefer they didnt) but people making out like this year was a travesty are forgetting its history.

Hey we do agree on quite a few things, just don't see the need to say it all the time lol, the respect is there mate always.

Yeah the Brownlow has weird ones, look no further than the JHF thing this year. In general look over the NRL's history has there been a winner that was "wrong". I know people will say Wighton when he won but they made the final that year, similarly Hayne but Parra made the final too. Plenty more weird winners in the Brownlow

Completely disagree, find the voting to be ordinary. Johnson got called out last night for getting 0 points :tearsofjoy:

Every club/player deserves the right to hear if they've scored points in a given game. The NRL's way of just completely disregarding anyone that's not on the leader board is disappointing to me.

Feel like they've started dragging it out longer and longer as well.

Considering they skip over a chunk of the season, there's no reason it needed to finish that late.

Do find the presentation part of it weird as well. Ponga got announced, gave a 30 sec interview and they finished immediately. No commentary on the winner etc.

Adding in the womens awards made it longer than it had to be and the Titans coach giving us a 15 minute power speech on whatever it was.

Ironically the Titans coach (while admirable) shouldn't have been the coach of the year anyway.

How Ron continues to be overlooked is hilarious.

Honestly wouldn't have a clue about the NRLW, probably watch the GF as it's on but I wouldn't even have a clue who deserved their players and coach of the year. It tends to be on when I'm coaching waterpolo so I can't watch it.

Thats fair, for clarity i more meant the outcome and the voting system at least makes sense, plus unlike the Brownlow where you just get a couple of midfielders being the stars.

Maybe combining AA with Brownlow (which the Dally kind of does)?

Even though they didn't win it's nice to see a few front rowers up there too. That's the one thing I do like about the Dally M. The Brownlow is too much a midfielder only award

Yeah that's essentially what the Dally M's do. I'm not against that, although the Brownlow would then have to start at midday to get through it all haha.

The voting is still a joke in the Dally M's. There was a Penrith game this season where the two judges had 6 different voted players. How do 2 judges not agree on a single player in the top 3 for the game? That's wild.

I think influence in an NRL game can be alot harder to judge than in an AFL game.

Take the now infamous Lachie Neale 3 voter against GWS i reckon if you allowed the 4 umpires to vote independently in that you might have wound up with 12 different players getting votes. Errors in judgement are still gonna exist and the parameters arent clear for who gets votes (at least IMO) .

Overall i think you get less howler outcomes and even in game votes than the Brownlow and seeing the best player in each position celebrated is cool too.

Bang on about the length though, shes a looooong night at the Brownlow for really 1 award.
