(And they think moving an Origin match to Melbourne will actualy help in promoting the code; they have already FAILED in that in the mid90s only drawing 25000 to the MCG).

In fact every fair dinkum SOO in Melbourne has been an outrageous success, with the crowd you refer to being without the established superstars most of whom defected to Super League.

Actually not so. Geelong have MORE members residing in Melbourne than actually in Geelong if memory serves me correctly. When the Cats play at home there are always hordes of people heading down on the V-Line "Sprinter". The Catters play several home matches at the Dome for this very reason as well.

If true, thats a clear sign that tribalism is making way for corporate sporting entities... or does Geelongians just naturally gravitate to Melbourne like Victorians to Queensland??

Still, I would have thought Geelong was the last great tribal club with a clear geographic identity in Victoria.
