its really not that hard to figure out, if you werent shitscared and paranoid and seeing anti-RL sentiment everywhere you could figure it out for yourself.

ill give you a hint, Ben Cousins was front page news in Perth for weeks, whereas in Sydney and Brisbane it was only for a few days, then was pushed back 5 deep into the paper.

give up? matty johns is one of the most recognizable faces in australian rugby league, he fronts the footy show and has done for years

quite simply, he is the most famous, and there is alot of papers to be sold by showing the public the dispicable things he does.

albert proud? im a keen AFL follower and i have no idea who the **** that is.

if he was famous like carey, cousins, bird or johns, if he was a legend or media personality, it would be a shitstorm.

the melbourne media will be finished with this story next week, because noone knows or cares who matty johns is.

the sydney media will be running with this for weeks if not months.

And Greg Bird, Anthony Watmough, Brett Stewart etc are household names in Melbourne yet receive massive coverage.

Hahaha yeah she ran at full speed into a broken drinking glass....

And he initially pointed his finger at his mate, and didnt admit fault, just like you and your RL buddies point the finger at, the girl in the Matty Johns incident, at the 17 year old against Stewart, at the media for doing their job, at AFL because they are the big bad boogie man who is out to get the righteous helpless RL...

Grow up tool and face the music! You maketh the bed, you sleep in it ;)

Yep, one is charged with throwing a glass and causing injury, hence 5 stitches, the other charged with glassing hence breaking a females eye socket

Yep, same incidents...:p

Both girls were injured.

The question isn't the injury...you tool it's the intent. As I said the reporting of both has been a disgrace.:p:p

massive coverage? really? thats your paranoia talking mate. you obviously werent in melbourne when carey was kicked off the kangaroos if you think the greg bird story was "massive"

greg bird and brett stewart were briefly mentioned here on news in perth. on a single night, the night the stories broke. then that was it. watmough didnt even get mentioned. there was more coverage on sports tonight, but thats late at night and is a national show.

noone cares, or at least they wont next week. it really is that simple. everyone in sydney and queensland wants to see the details of johns indiscretions. proud is a fringe player of a fringe sport in brisbane, why should people care in sydney?

you think that just because he doesent have his mug inst splashed all over the DT and the johns is is evidence of some sort of MEDIA CONSPIRACY AGAINST LEAGUE, THEY ALL HATE US, **** I JUST FILLED MY DAKS

outside the heartland people will look down their nose, naughty naughty rugby league, then they will go onto stuff they actually do care about.

in sydney, this will drag on and on.

I agree you must be disgusted in O'Loughlin, Burgoyne and Heuskus, I know I am.

Any comments boys the silence is deafening????

Sorry cant seem to find any charges or guilty verdicts...only and edict from someone that seems to know this person...

In other words you know f%$& all what occured, you are basing an argument on she said/someone said

And what did that NRL player say? We will never stop "Gang romps"

culture:eek:

So you agree regarding the media reporting, good.

By the way are drugs not ILLEGAL? Since when has group sex been so?

Now Con, as a degenerate I'd like to point you to post one in this thread, and then please tell me again in your articulate manner this isn't a thread about AFL v NRL.

Defending a bunch of gang rapists purely because they play the sport you follow. Bizarre....

Once again your ignorance is showing.

I live in Melbourne my dear friend and am very aware of what is going on.

I can remember the days when the Herald Sun (was called the Sun Pictorial then) wouldn't even put the RL results in the newspaper, but of course when there was a negative story suddenly they were interested eg. Steve Linnane/Greg Alexander incident in 1987 (I don't expect you guys to know about that).

Cough...cough...cough...hypocrites.

What do you think.....mate I can't be bothered. It's this attitude I love from AFL people, it's fantastic.

Insular, ignorant etc:)

Can you name these gang rapists you talk of. Are you suddenly saying group sex constitutes gang rape even after the police have investigated as they did in the Adelaide affair with O'Loughlin, Heuskus and Burgoyne.

How old are you Con?

mate, you and your neanderthal RL mates are actually defending the gang ****ing of a drunk teenager by saying "well it was legal"

and i bet you wonder why the country is banding together to call you a bunch of ****ing animals, dont ya? you just cant figure it out

No I can't name them. Does this mean they don't exist? Not sure of your point... I know they play/played for Cronulla?
I can only hope that you have a daughter and that one day she cops an absolute pasting from your 'heroes'.

Can you provide me with a link of these convicted rapists you talk about?

Didn't think so....seems you are getting a little worked up, you're not Rebecca Wilson are you?

Fair to say that resorting to comments like that Consolacoa only highlights what an ignorant person you must be. To wish an act of that nature against anyone is ordinary form to say the least.

Both codes have had a history of unsavoury incidents. I suspect that the AFL is portrayed in a better light due to its relationship with media and the fact that its spin doctors are better resourced than that of league counterparts. It also ensures that its clubs receive good publicity for the community efforts that they undertake. Which strikes me as odd given that News Ltd (publisher of the Daily Telegraph) also own Rugby League. You'd think there'd be more league journalists flying the flag for the code. In fact, its left to Gus Gould, in the fairfax paper, the Syd Morning Herald, to support league.

It would be desirable only, and I mean only and exclusively, for the irony. Every other part of it would be abhorrent, disgraceful, inexcusable and completely unforgivably awful.
OK? Can't believe I need to explain this given my earlier posts, but there you go.

its an interesting question...why is the AFLs image so much better than RL? when really they started in pretty much the same position, at least to begin with

both have an incestuous relationship with the media, people freely move between the two and have friendships leading into each

im not sure, perhaps the class difference up there, with the rich public school types influencing the media corporations.... perhaps their ownership of the game lets them feel they can get away with greater criticism... or maybe they feel obliged to not show favouratism and it goes back the other way too far...maybe its the greater budget that the AFL has for marketing and promotion...maybe its just the tabloid slant the media has in sydney

im not sure, but the negative media sure fuels ther paranoia that many league types seem to have.

The NRL Footy Show last night did a version of Street Talk and the amount of people (particularly women) saying they were over Rugby League and no longer interested in the code was particularly high.

Bad for League, good for AFL. Time to fast track West Sydney.

lmao..they did that in eastern suburbs :D

.

one thing i have noticed, news ltd in sydney want to sell papers...and a negative league story sells them plenty of papers and gets people blogging, ive also seen aot more herlad sun good articles about afl players in community etc....

not much is done for league players when they do same amount...

news ltd has many agendas..no doubt they are still angry super leage didnt go through as well

It's not paranoia, it's the desire for a fair go. Besides Gould and Masters there are very few journos prepared to defend league.

This isn't a new thing, it's been happening for 100 years. RL has never been part of the establishment.

The media has always had an agenda against the game, and creates a certain perception of it which is far from the truth. Infact it happens in most countries in which the game is played.

Jonathan Davies, brilliant ex-union and league Welsh international (he played for the Bulldogs also) wrote in his book RL was the most discriminated against sport.

You can go back 70 years and see stories claiming the code would die.

In NZ school kids were caned for playing the game, as union was the preferred code.

Even during WW2 the Rugby Union sided with the pro Nazis Vichy government and had all RL assets confiscated.

So you agree regarding the media reporting, good.

Of course it was disgusting. Not everyone (AFL or NRL fans) is as willing to defend these pigs (again, from both codes) for simply playing the game they love as you are. You don't see a case of 12 boofheads taking advantage of a girl with acts of depravity so severe that they leave her mentally damaged, all you want to do is engage in an NRL vs AFL debate. You're insecurities are utterly transparent, and it's pathetic. Legal or not, this was an act that should not be defended, rationalized with technicalities, or swept under the carpet. At all.

Don't think that because News Ltd are involved/own the NRL rugby league supporters are happy with this. The fact is most hate News Ltd and want them out of our game as they are holding it back purely for their own self interest.

Also David Gallop is nothing more than a News Ltd puppet, and most league fans would be happy to see the back of him.

What does that have to do with anything!?!
