Victorian clubs - 100 games.

Freo and WCE - 150 games.

Crows - 200 games.

That's why it should be changed, it's simply not fair.
You guys are the ones who came up with the idea of F-S from feeder clubs, and you were the ones who came up with the idea of making it 200 games, and the AFL agreed to it. Now you're going to complain that it's unfair AFTER you asked for it, came up with the number of games and signed it???

Number 1 at the moment from wa (judging on past achievments) would be leroy jetta.
15s All Australian
16's Medal best player for carnival
AIS
WAFL Colts Team Of The Year
18's All Australian
Has not played senior football yet but played reserves and had 18 touches and 5 goals.

Again, from what i've heard, seems like a pretty impressive list for next years draft. What position does Joel Selwood play?
Midfield?
2005 All-Australian side
Joel Selwood (Vic Country) - 17 years, 181cm, 73kg, Bendigo Pioneers/Sandhurst
Medium midfielder/defender who is outstanding in contested situations and is a fine leader. Had game high 26 disposals in Vic Country loss to Vic Metro. Won Ron Barassis Medal as Australia's best player against Ireland at under-17 level earlier this year when he captained Australia.

There is a reason why it is structured like that...to make it fair.

I dont think the crows will have a leg to stand on. Firstly, they put forward this f/s proposal. Secondly, if they had any problems with the criteria it should have been brought up earlier. You cant just wait until you have a gun f/s prospect missing by afew games to say "OHHH hang on, despite having this criteria for over 10yrs, we dont like it now". Maybe if they had realised earlier and tried to have it altered they might have been a chance to change it. As it stands now, the whole AFL is watching the crows very sceptically because they know the Crows are going to try and wiggle and jiggle something.

South Fremantle have some guys with skills in the U/18's. Justin Hill , Leroy Jetta and Brett Eades. Saw Eades kick 7 against Peel and Jetta doing some Akermanis type things week in week out. Scott Gumbleton from Peel can play a bit too. The WA 18's will be hard to beat next championships with these guys plus Clint Benjamin, Matt Leuenberger, Jarryd Morton.
Gumbleton will probably go the highest as he is a KPP. But on talent Jetta is the winner.

I will be most ********ed off if the AFL decides to change the rules now considering it was the SA teams that put the proposal in the first place.
Brisbane's effort to get an extra few miles in the Zone selection to secure Reiwoldt was not successful. If Adelaide is appeased than there will be an outcry from the rest of the clubs. The current system is the fairest and it has been worked out to be statistically balanced for all so no one is disadvantaged.
Unfortunately Adelaide and it's supporters will just have to live with it and move on. It will hurt but there is nothing you can do about it except to build a bridge and get over it.

IMO:- Can we please let these guys play season 2006 before you start judging them. Stay on the guys for this year. It would be more "who to watch out for in season 2006." There is enough presser on these guys, you don't have to add to it. I alway like to know who to watch out for..........

Hey Riff, can you tell us anything about Jarryd Morton? I heard he is a pretty talented KPP but was touch and go whether he would be worth a 3rd rounder in next years strong draft. A quick opinion would be appreciated.

Hansen, in my opinion, looks like a standout prospect in that he seems to handle the pressure at CHB brilliantly already.

Of any of the young kids I've seen (which admittedly, isn't a whole lot) I like Hansen the best.

I have Hansen a long way ahead of Selwood myself Vinnie.

I presume he isnt Ash Hansen brother?
Nope, Ash Hansen only had one brother, to my knowledge, and his name was Chris, and he'd be about 20 now, seeing as I went to high school with him.

My older brother was actually in a homeroom in Year 11 with Ash Hansen, Scott Thornton and Matthew Boyd. Not a bad homeroom from a football perspective.

You forgot one who will be right up there with first 3 or 4, Eric McKenzie!

while the system is currently fair, their is a question about when it should change. At some point it is going to have to be that interstate teams will only be able to draft the sons of players who played for their actually played for that club.

for example
say West Coast came into the comp in '85(not sure of exacts)
then a player have played 200 games for them, so say that takes 10 years
at some point has a kid who grows up and is about to be drafted, another 17-18 years.

So at some point about 30 years after being in the comp, their F/S drafting rules should be brought into line with the Victorian team.

I thought he was ineligible as a F-S pick?

Do any of these guys have the potential to be a full back or CHB?

Lachlan Hansen would have been close to top 10 this year and you would have to select him as a back man. If you watched him play through out this year you can see how well he judges the ball as it is coming into the backline. Definately a future AFL full back

Pete Weir....Didn't play under 16 vic country due to broken arm. is doing teh hardyards now...should go pretty high....

I think he will be alot more than a full back.

He only played back because he is young and 'learning'. He will probly play forward next year and dominate.

Would say he will be father/son as he is Noel Morton's other son. Played some good games without being a dominant force in the colts. Good kick and pace , needs to work a bit on second efforts and being defensive.

See, I think that there's not enough focus on full backs.

Who do you see as more important to a side, a Matthew Scarlett or a Matthew Lloyd?

For me, if I could get a kid that I knew was going to be an All-Australian Full Back or Centre Half Back, I would rate them as high as if they were going to be a Full Forward or Centre Half Forward.

A great defender, by definition, has to be as valuable as a great forward that they can stop, if not more valuable.

Hansen will make a magnificent backman, why move him?

He will go to the WCE under the F/S the decision has already been made, he will play for WA in the U18's and be one of the leading lights. He is a better prospect than Mitch.
