The Corowa Rutherglen Football Netball Club is proud to announce the appointment of Daryn Cresswell as Senior Coach for the next two seasons, covering season 2025 & 2026.

Cresswell, a former AFL great and highly respected coach, brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and leadership to the club. His AFL playing career is one many envy, highlighted by an All-Australian selection, 244 games for the Sydney Swans, and recognition as a Swans Life Member and a member of their Team of the Century.

Daryn’s coaching career is equally extensive, including roles as an AFL Assistant Coach and Senior Coach in some of Australia’s premier competitions. Most recently, he led South Cairns Cutters to the 2024 Premiership, further cementing his reputation as a top-tier coach.

Complementing this is Daryn’s outstanding knowledge and experience in the SS&A OMFNL. Having previously guided Wodonga Raiders and Wangaratta Rovers to several, successful finals campaigns.

The CRFNC Board and supporters are thrilled about the potential Cresswell brings to the club.
His appointment represents a significant step forward in our long-term vision for success, both on and off the field. Daryn's deep football knowledge, passion for player development and
competitive drive will be invaluable as we continue building a strong and winning culture at Corowa- Rutherglen.
C
RFNC Board Member Dean Druce expressed the club's enthusiasm about securing Cresswell’s services:

"We are delighted to have Daryn on board. His experience at the highest levels of the game and his coaching philosophy aligns perfectly with our ambitions for the future. Daryn's football knowledge will inspire our players and provide a new direction to take Corowa Rutherglen to the next level.
Our aim is to be consistently competitive in the Ovens and Murray league, and we believe Daryn is the ideal person to lead us on that journey."

The Club would also like to thank and acknowledge the two-year tenure of Steve Owen as Senior Coach. Steve took on arguably the toughest coaching job in the state in December 2022, leading the charge to recruit and attract new and returning players to the club while we were in recess.
His unwavering commitment and leadership laid the foundation for the club’s revival. Without Steve at the helm during this crucial period, CRFNC would not be in the strong position it finds itself in today.

We are proud to announce that Steve will be staying with the club in 2025, working closely with our Football Department, where his experience and dedication will continue to play a pivotal role in our future success.

The appointment of Daryn Cresswell is part of the club's broader strategy to strengthen its on-field performance, develop local talent, and solidify its position in the O&M, Our Club is poised to embark on an exciting new era.

We invite our members, sponsors, and the wider community to join us in welcoming Daryn, his wife Jo, and his three sons, Josh, Jake, and Jayden, to Corowa Rutherglen.
We look forward to an exciting and successful journey together.

Great to hear. Hopefully with a few recruits it won’t take them long to charge back up the ladder again.

Chips in here for both club & coach.
Club historically has had its best results when it has backed to the hilt a coach who can recruit.
Coach has taken on bigger task than Raiders & Rovers at a time when OM has never been more even.
Teams which missed finals this season, Albury, myrtleford, Lavington, at this early stage of season will be thinking they’re not far off finals.
Bottom end of top five, Wang, North, Wodonga looking to improve.
Fascinating stuff.

Fascinating stuff.

Going to be an unreal comp next season, would have to nearly be the most even it’s ever been?

Darryn is a welcomed addition to the competition, after our chat I believe he will be treading with caution in certain recruiting zones.
Cast your mind back to who he brought to the Rovers. I would have thought he’s going to focus all his efforts on Corowa.

Cody Schutt is one to watch.
Will he come back to Rovers or follow the coach he had this year to Corowa and carry a points premium of at least 5, maybe more?

They can average 2.5 points per player next year under Crezza. 12 1 pointers in their last game this season. Have already got a few more one pointers back to the club for next year.
Any players staying around worth more than 1 point lose a point in 2025.
Points premium is no issue at all.
