Sam has been in contact with every club in the state that he hasn’t played for yet by the sounds of it
I'd hope Sam has a think about playing for unders this year and maybe do the unthinkable and win a flag, then clubs all over the state will be calling him next year

Ryan Garthwaite (ex richmond - montrose) might be on the move to the O&M

With Albury Signing Garthwaite and Johnson who are both ex O and M Players at Rival Clubs it begs me to ask a Serious Question.
If it was any other Club that signed them would there be any Issues or is it just the fact they have signed at Albury that we think it’s Unethical?
Curiosity - who has said it's unethical?

Not so much unethical but hopefully you get the gist Toxic.
I’m under the impression Lavi Great Matty Pendergast wasn’t impressed
I get it - it's an employment market and players are free to search employment options
LIKEWISE - Employers are free to approach all potential candidates.

I do know R.G and his partner are both moving to the Albury region

When its a higher ranked side it stinks. Like Wang with the Corowa boys and Waite, yarra with the Wilson's and albury with numerous.

As I said it should be 4 points, plus 1 point added for every position the other side is above the ladder.
That'd mean Johnson is 5 and garthwaite 7 points. It'd stop a lot quicker than

word going around north albury singed seymour/coburg star ben rigoni former morrison medalist, very tough young midfielfer very good pickup

Will they have the points to fit in Rigoni and the other recruits they have announced.
Gee I hope so.
Appears to be a pretty even season coming up

Will they have enough points or are they hoping to get an increase ?

Preliminary final last year they played with 35/46 points.
They had 8 players with two points or more.
They keep that side they will drop 8 points to 27/39
So will have 12 points to work with using their new recruits.

This is where the one pointers from having so many local kids playing helps.
Building from within with a few top up players a Great way to go

Absolutely! Makes clubs focus more on their own local talent. If you choose to ignore that and focus on imports only it will come back to bite you at some stage.

So Hoppers will be able to replace 6 of their 1 pointers with 6 3 pointers and be right on the limit. Plenty of space.

Yes, I understand the clubs complaining about the rule change being brought up mid season when they were already planning recruits for 2025 but other regions across the state have been dealing with this same tiered system so think they'll have to just grin and bare it and adjust accordingly. Adjusting it based on performances across a number of years is probably a fair enough suggestion but haven't seen anyone do a mock up of how it should work.

It will impact the competition across the board and the O&M's ability to attract more top end recruits in general so may see a bit of a drop in standard and a more even comp. The more even competition with more locals is the aim of the system anyway. Have to be more strategic with recruits & target players who have the right number of years out of AFL/VFL/Talent league systems or those who haven't been moving around between lots of clubs so they remain 3 point players.

I’d like to see each club have room for 1 marquee player. Their points and wage count for nought in both caps. The rest go with a points system.
Gives each club the chance to go after a top top line player that will only help the league and teams as whole.
