Relatively certain that the two in question are both starting apprenticeships in Benalla and requested to be allowed to sign there to reduce the need to leave early to make trainings. I would say maintaining a positive relationship with players who have done right by your club in the hope they return when the time is right is good management and the sign of a strong culture.
Reigning thirds and seniors premiers, with 60-70 kids trying to make the pre-season training list. Natural attrition

What’s not to like?
“Star” is tossed around irresponsibly these days. One wouldn’t get close to a senior gig, and the other knew he wasn’t cementing his spot in Samuels selected 21. My tip, learn to fight if you’re on the streets of Benalla, it’s worse than Detroit after dark. I won’t cycle unarmed after 5pm.
Had heard a whisper over the drip tray that there is talk of Cressa offering Cody Schutt the captaincy. A good leader, but surely that wouldn’t be a popular move amongst the C/R faithful. Who was captain this year? Got to go to one of the local young guns doesn’t it. Surely
Joe Hansen has been the captain for the last few years. Stuck fat when the club was at its worst, but is now seeing the fruits of the hard work. He could have taken the easy way out and stayed at Lavington after the recess, but didn't. Good player and an even better bloke. Would hate for that to be true, would definitely cause some anger among some of the loyal Corowa folk.
How many have been signed from South Cairns from last year? (Another announced this morning)

It'll be a similar set up to how cairns ran this year top liners only playing 8-14 games each rotating on availability and who they are up against in that week and then just picking their best side with available points when the time comes, which is wild to think why any local fringe player would be going across knowing they arent in their best 21 come the end of the season no matter if they are in the best on paper.

Good on them for having a crack though
Just saw that is five from South Cairns. Is he ruthless, or a club wrecker? Whatever story was spun for his contract release to SC was uttter rubbish, as he was openly telling people here he was coaching Corowa from halfway through the season. So if he is in your corner, you like him, if not your opinion would differ. All he left SC was his son, can he play?

That he did. Signed a two year deal, left after one and has taken 5 players with him. Playing the devils advocate- I wouldn’t be overly happy
He helped get Boston to coach, south Cairns still have plenty of good players, ones gone to koondrook, but a lot of guys who play up there are ex Vic SA guys, who stay a couple of years enjoy the weather and come back.
I'd reckon he picks the locals over the recruits at the end of the year. The recruits will be used to fast track guys and get them in the top 5
He writes the contracts. You’ll find if Cairns had of fell short he’d still be there. Corowa win it this year, he’s riding off in the sunset. If there’s even a murmur of a player or staffer disgruntled they’ll be out the door quicker than Wangaratta handed back the cup.
