Judging by that chart GWS had more members than GC last year.

Yeh, i saw that chart on the AFL board.

It's flawed though as the 2011 figures are the AFL official (I.e. game attending) membership number (with the exception of GWS),
whilst the 2012 figures are the club figures which include non-match day memberships

this is also why West Coast appear like they have already surpassed their 2011 total

We are already 600+ on our pre round one total in 2011.

Add another 200 today and we will be roughly 4,700 up on this point last year.

The gap between this year and last is being maintained, if not increasing slightly. This is despite a much larger number of Troo Roo memberships being automatically renewed this year, which you would think would cut into our added membership numbers during this period as most of those Troo Roos would have signed up over the last month or two anyway.

The next 7 weeks will be the most important. If we can develop a gap of 5,000 on 2011 before the season begins and then take advantage of two games at Etihad and one in Hobart in the first three weeks of the season, we could be at 32,000 by round 4.

Looking at that chart...Caro's beloved plan 3075 for Richmond she touted in the Age appears to be failing.
IIRC, it was three finals in the next two years, zero debt and 75,000 members.
They have since played no finals since announcing it, and are less than halfway to 75,000 members. No idea about their debt.
Caro, I declare plan 3075 a "pipedream" (*tm - USC Arden Street redevlopment assessment)

Haven't the AFL changed the rules this year regarding which memberships are counted so that all memberships should increase in 2012. It also looks like more members are signing up earlier.

That has been mentioned a lot. On the AFL board thread people have asked for sources and no one has been able to provide any.

Even if they are going to count them, it still makes the chart misleading when illustrating the progress of each club's campaign. It would have been better if they used the club's figures (i.e. not AFL official) for 2011 that's all.

3-0-75 was a target, not a promise, the finals part is anyone's guess, we could make the 8 this year, go out first round and get to second round of finals next year, who knows. The 0 debt is very very achievable, we knocked off about 1.5m of debt last year off of a 4m debt, total donated last year was almost 3m, the rest went to upgrades of the Punt Rd facilities ie surface and a larger football department.

75k members, well our target is 50k this year, we look to be well on track with that, if, and it's a big if, we can play finals in the next 2 years I have no doubt we will reach that target, if not get very close to it.

I reckon I'll be adding a new recruit to the cause. A photographer colleague of mine has recently moved from Sydney to North Melbourne and is keen to embrace NMFC and get along to a few games. I'm sure I'll get him along and signed up even though he doesn't understand much about the game he likes it.
