Pick 39 probably isn't enough and I don't want to give up pick 23, that is too high. If Warnock and Carlton can't get a deal done, then Warnock and Prismall may be in the PSD. Dees pick up Warnock and we pray that Prismall is around for pick 5. That's the ideal and most unlikely scenario. :D

Interesting 2 days coming up.

Poor man's Stanton. He is ridiculously over-rated, because he plays for Geelong. Let's see him in our midfield, and see how well he does. I'm happy to eat humble pie, but I'd rather just not get him.

Obviously, if he joins I'll give him 100% support, but I just don't rate him.

If we do pick him up, hopefully he proves the two of us wrong.
If we don't pick him up, oh well.

I think if that was on the verge of happening at the end of trade week and the Dees were actually interested in Prismall they would just offer Geelong pick 35 (which is starting to get into unkown drafting territory so the Dees don't lose much) and still be able to grab Warnock in the PSD (assuming that he went into it).

I think if we want him we will have to work something out with Geelong, that said I wouldn't give up pick 23 as the draft will still offer plenty of quality at that point and I don't rate Prismall that highly (he is OK, but not that OK).

He has said he wants to go to Essendon. If Geelong can do a deal with Essendon it will be done. Melbourne wpuld need to offer a pick in the 2nd round to beat our 3rd round. They will not send him to a club he doesnt wanna be at to get a pick 4 picks higher in the 3rd round

Lovett for Prismall in straight swap,Ben Mcglyn from Hawthorn is keen to come to bombers if Okeefe ends up at Hawthorn.They tell me Essendon may give Hawthorn pick 23 for him.Kane Tenace may also be involved in the Lovett deal.you might find that the Mcglyn deal could be in tomorrow's paper......trust me......:thumbsu:

I was speaking to a fellow Essendon supporter earlier today, and he brought up a valid point. Would Prismall be in our best 22? As of now, yes he would. But given he will be out for maybe half a year, plus have no match fitness on return, would he be in? Also bearing in mind we had Winderlich, Houli and Davey out for most of the year. If Houli, Reimers, Lonergan etc keep developing the way they are, they will be ahead of Prismall IMO, and Prismall will once again be stuck on the outer.

sounds good but Lovett wants to much coin for what Geelong can handle in there salary cap. I am thinking we will do a deal on picks to Geelong and Lovett will be a Bomber next year and sort out his life

They don't want to send him anywhere, they would like to keep him but he wants to leave. In The Dustbin's hypothetical, which I was replying to, if Essendon only offer pick 39 and Geelong don't want it (they may not use it and around the 40's picks become quite hit and miss ) he may threaten to go to the PSD.

So in this hypothetical situation, Geelong find pick 39 compensation ill-befitting a player of (what they think) Prismall's skill. Now if melbourne, who are reportedly interested, offer pick 35, and Prismall has assured Geelong he intends to leave whether traded or not then yes, Geelong could lose him for nothing so four picks higher is probably what they would take unless they were in a generous mood.

Why wouldn't they send him to a club he doesn't want to be at to get a pick 4 picks higher in the 3rd round? Four picks higher is better than no picks higher and even then I'm sure Geelong feel he is worth mid to late 20's, so given that they don't want to let him go in the first place, why not get the most you can?

I would rather that we dont trade for any players.

Keep our selections in the draft, trust our recruiting team to select good players and trust our coaching team to develop our young players.

I agree with a few people on this thread so far. Pick 39 would be worth it although it probably wouldnt satisfy Geelong. Pick 23 would be paying too much.

IMO Geelong is telling ' porky pies ' about their salary cap issues.

They cant fit Lovett into their salary cap, but they can fit Prismall into their salary cap.

I dont think there would be too much difference in the salaries between Lovett and Prismall.

IMO Lovett is playing hardball about his ultimate destination ( which is within his rights as a contracted player ) and probably didn't want to move to Sydney and then probably provided a list of 2 or 3 other clubs he would consider to be potential suitors.

It's rumoured that Prismall is on 175k and Lovett is on 250k.

I honestly doubt many Essendon supporters would believe Prismall is a poor man's Dyson

However, as we've gone through a period of sustained success we are wary on fringe players who look like millionaires in great teams.

Understandable. I just don't think it's sensible to write off any Geelong player, because they come from Geelong. Kind of twisted logic really.
