Any danger of getting back on topic?
Sorry I got distracted as well :D

If he needed a full reco, how long would Selwood be in a moon boot etc for? And if he is walking without a limp etc does that indicate he didn't have a reco?

We haven't really heard a thing have we.

Using my skills of deduction, if he was supposed to have the operation mid October and I saw him about 3 weeks later then that would suggest he didn't have the ankle reco. Unless walking without a limp 3 weeks after that sort of operation is common..?

Or he didn't have the reco and he had a different less serious operation..?
So many questions...

Maybe the claim that he needed a reco was a furphy, and all he really needed was a clean up?

I think it was maybe they went in expecting the worst.... and if they didn't have to do a reco it was a bonus

He was up walking around the day after the op wasn't he? He was down at Trade Radio on the Thursday or Friday with his foot in a moon boot after having the op on Wednesday from memory as below

Can't see any crutches.
And obviously can't see if any moonboot :/

Correct.

Read an October article since that post, in which he says just that, and they wouldn't know until they went in.

Not what he said in his presser when joining the club, he said it's a reco and the plaster he was getting around in suggests that's what he had.

What is the role we see him playing mostly. Run with? BF? BP perhaps? I think he might be a capable lock down Back Pocket option at least.
I'd think we will be using him as a run with player, he is capable of containing a player and also finding the ball himself... removes any thoughts of Guth having to do it was, allowing him to focus on winning the footy and breaking away with it as he started to do consistently the 2nd half of this year

I think run with role in the midfield.
If (and it's a big if) Scooter can regain his form from 2012/13 then he's clearly capable of tagging and being a quality midfielder who gets plenty of contested touches, clearances and tackles.

Cam Guthrie can be more attacking now that he's not the only player who can play a shutdown role. He showed in the last 6 weeks of the season that he can rack up the numbers when not required to be ultra defensive.

If he can't regain his previous form then the need to be flexible position wise might be required.
I know he played half back in U/18's, perhaps he can do it again..?
I've always thought he's a reasonable and efficient kick but others have question marks and if true it might not help his case...

What Scott said in his announcement presser:
Selwood said he was hopeful Wednesday's surgery, which could be another ankle reconstruction depending on what the surgeons find, would be the last but it is likely to keep him away from pre-season training until after Christmas.

"I'm hoping this is the last little bit of it and hopefully I'll have a fresh start and get ready to go," Selwood said.

"(I'll) probably be right to train early in the New Year."

Obviously a shutdown role has its benefits...but so would a reliable player who can do the same on a quality FP's...and I was thinking that with the recent work on his ankles that role might be an option if he is a little off.

Strange then, if he has had his operation why the club has yet to comment on whether it was the full reco or if it was less than this. I cannot see how this info will advantage our competition and I can see that will impact some Cat's fans - so why not tell us. Had 2-3 weeks to do this now. the surgeon would have said a few things directly after the surgery and you would think they would know something about how the op. went and the how the ankle is healing by now !

These small things can mean a lot to some. Come GFC get with the program and give us something !

The club has been pretty good these days if you ask them something, jump on twitter and ask them and they usually get back to fairly quickly.
