The fact that in recent times we haven't gotten the armchair rides at home enjoyed by, say, West Coast or Port is probably the only think keeping Kardinia Park from being an invulnerable fortress. Couple of iffy ones in a single game go our way and everyone's all like "uh... oh..."

LOL what now?

2014 Round 20 vs Freo

Geelong 32 free kicks
Fremantle 15 free kicks

Geelong won by 2 points.

Now if that isn't an armchair ride, I honestly don't know what is.

He certainly plays for them though, he would get a few more frees if he attacked the ball instead of trying to draw a free kick. Such a talented player moreso if he played at the ball

Mostly that's because Freo are really, really dirty and actually got pinged for stuff that day.

There were plenty of holding the man decisions that simply weren't paid - a couple glaring ones that should have gone Ports way.

How hard is it to get 30 blokes to umpire consistently...2.5billion TV deal and not one full time umpire?? Am I missing something??

broadcaster you would've thought mate, i like your conspiracy though. earth is flat, chem trails and geelong rigged the scoreboard

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Image clearly shows scoreboard countdown clock @ 28 and the umpire hasn't even run in to set the mark yet!!

So who controls when the countdown actually starts? Why was it counting before the umpire had even set the mark?

There's also a reasonable amount of Port Adelaide hating Adelaide supporters.

To suggest that Port weren't robbed blind by the umpires is hilarious.
Where was all this hate when Geelong was robbed blind in the first qtr and a half? No where as the neutrals don't watch the umps in the first half and only barrack for the underdogs. Go look at the match day thread to see neutral bias. All calling the umps and AFl cheats for the Dixon play on even though video footage clearly shows it doesn't happen until after the thirty seconds are up and Dixon even has the giant screen in his eye line and we hear the umps warning him beforehand. And just as many neutrals calling the danger goal 1 minute later cheating for not being called touch even though the slow motion replay shows there ain't even hands between the ball and goal after it leaves dangers boot. Port players didn't even try to claim touch. Outrage was generated over nothing. But the outrage can't be rationalised with so they start thinking up random calls earlier in the game to justify it.

The only thing that is funny about Cats supporters in this thread are their point about Dixon knowing what he was doing.

So Dixon wants to chew up as much time as he can, and acknowledges the umpire, and simply doesn't know how much time is on the clock?? He's supposed to be wasting time, he's a specialist Key forward who has been kicking with a 30 sec time clock for goodness knows how long, and apparently he knows exactly what he's doing right up until the point where he simply doesn't know he's run out of time.

And Port fans are unrealistic?
He was facing the countdown clock

You know what, he does play it up a bit and tries to milk one on the odd occasion. Ok, probably more often than not.

You know what else? He doesn't get paid them, and I don't just mean tonight. It's becoming a weekly occurrence. Umps will go out of their way to not pay him obvious frees.

Their job is to pay what's there. Nothing more, nothing less. No bias. No favouritism.

It happend to SJ for years, its frustrating

Definitely a free kick to the Cats players, Gray should have been penalised for shepherding.
Gees you don't even show the free kick which was called in that clip and it happened before the bews on gray hold so it overrides it. Like I has in 130 years of football umpiring decisions.

No different to Hawkins and a few other forwards in the league.
