How many times do we have to tell you that you can't trade other future picks if you trade your 1st round future pick for the next season before you believe itWhat happened to using the proceeds from the Walker/Jansen trades?
Going further down the order with so many list vacancies is a strange move.
If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft.

But if you bring in future picks from other clubs you can trade those picksHow many times do we have to tell you that you can't trade other future picks if you trade your 1st round future pick for the next season before you believe it
Um our third rounder next year would be around pick 50. So you would rather give up two pick 50s this year then 1 pick 50 next?Bargain.
I don't mind it (going further down the order this year by trading 49 & 53, rather than 2016 3rd off Brisbane).
There might only be around 60 (or even less) live picks this draft so seeing as how speculative picks are from the 3rd onwards, there is probably not much difference having 49, 53 60 and 84..... or picks 60,61,62,63....
Wells will obviously have a list of players around that mark and will take whoever is left. Hopefully at least a couple of them can make the grade.
I'm glad we were able to hang onto that 2016 3rd round which we can use in a stronger draft.
The Walker/Jensen deal is done. We got a future 3rd round pick for 2016, which we can't trade or use until the 2016 trade period. Now, we just need 3rd round picks or better each for Walker and Jansen. Two picks not one!
This is ambiguous. I would be astounded if the rule was you can't on-trade a pick received from another club. The rule exists to stop clubs trading their own picks. How many times do we have to tell you that you can't trade other future picks if you trade your 1st round future pick for the next season before you believe it

Once we accept the pick it becomes OUR PICK, so we can't trade it.There's nothing in the rules to suggest that you can't ontrade another club's future pick.

And I think you're completely wrong.ATTENTION WELLS:
In case you haven't noticed, we will need as many as 6 live picks in the draft. Consequently, trading our first 2 picks in this year's draft for Smith is sheer lunacy when we can trade our 2016 third round.
In fact, we should be inquiring about Gold Coast's (or should have for Brisbane's) later picks which neither GC or Brisbane will even use!
You are a master at picking diamonds in the draft. You get trades done with little fuss. But you are a poor, poor negotiator when it comes to extracting full value. I'm not saying become Essendon, but perhaps it would have been worth inquiring about Gold Coast's/Brisbane's garbage that they wont use, as it would be treasure for us. Instead, it looks like we are giving our treasure to GC, to which GC won't even use and throw out as garbage themselves.
Having 6 picks beyond 60 VS 6 picks from 40 is quite different. Most if not all clubs would end up with the latter if they were in our situation. We are a good club, but lets be a good club that also makes smarter trades with better negotiation.
The aFL rule is about trading your own future draft picks if you trade a future 1st rounder, if you bring in a pick that originated with another club a club is free to on trade that pick, just not their own future picksThe Walker/Jensen deal is done. We got a future 3rd round pick for 2016, which we can't trade or use until the 2016 trade period.
Wen may get a compo pick for SJ too? Although that certainly would not be a high pick.
The flow on effect for this deal is huge.
Stanley can play his preferred role of second ruckman who can float forward. I expect him to average at least a goal a game next season.
Blicavs can now be a full time midfielder, with Smith and Stanley handling duties in the ruck.
Fantastic.
