Biggest waste of money I have ever heard of.

They will struggle to make the finals with their list, even if they have picked up a few quality players, it is all about depth in this level of competition and Uni simply don't have it. Imagine what could be done with $90k elsewhere, I find it hard to believe that they would spend that much money on players.

Absolute Joke that anyone would think that 90k has been spent on players at Uni.

VOS - you obviously haven't heard to much about Uni and the hard work that their President and commitee have done in building the depth at the Club over the off season.

Not only have they picked up those quality players you speak of but they also have another 20 odd players that didnt play last year. Might not mean premierships in 2009 but both sides will make the finals.

Talking to one DOSA veteran recently and he said Harvey was not using the footballs for the first 16 training sessions! Sounds like they will be fit that's for sure. What have numbers been like up there? Rowie09, who are some of the potential gems you refer to that ya's have picked up?

Heard on the grapevine, Beams getting paid $20,000 as Non-playing coach and Uni's Sugar Daddy is spending approx $90,000 all up!

Beams+Gilmour would be reaping $30-35k of that I'm tipping, if his demands of $12k from Claremont are anything to go by!

Was talking to a Uni player a couple of weeks ago, and he said that they are not paying heaps of cash to players?

Told me that Beams got a job at Jackson Motors and a car (all supplied by Sugar Daddy), and is not getting paid from Uni. I thought that people from Uni would be smarter than that, but this dick thinks that a job and car are not payment.

Another source said Beams gets a little extra in his pay packet. Gilmore may also have a job with Sugar Daddy motors.

I hope your right would be good to see Uni competitive again.

The thing that we all need to remember is they consistantly got beat by 60 plus points in the seniors and over 100 in the reserves all year.

Will take a lot of new players to add depth to the club, as someone else mentioned on here having depth is a key to a successful club.

I'd say there seniors will be in the mix but there reserves will still struggle for depth.

Any news on Hutchins? I quite strongly agree with Rowie's points he made.. We may not have the big names but there are alot of no nonsense players who are there for the club.. Let's just say in some crazy world where I had some form of footballing talent.. I'd be happy to stay at DOSA even if I had a few tempting offers from other clubs, it just feels like a tight community up there.. And with a large quantity of players around the 19-23 age bracket.. Even if we are down for a year or 2.. I can't see it lasting.. Only a matter of months before we see where we're really at..
Your right that would be a crazy world...

But in seriousness, your right about the club being a tight community. The camaraderie at the club is of great importance and it is this which will keep players rather than $$$. Mantis obviously was an exception to this rule and while that is disappointing, it also enforces to the rest of us what we are about and what we are striving towards..

Of the 19-23 year olds we have a good 12-15 blokes that could potentially be at the club for 10+ years obviously depending on skill level/dedication, but all of them none the less are developing and have the potential to be quality players at this level.. There are still positive signs ahead for the Roosters, but whether it be in 1 year or 3, who knows just yet...

Can someone tell me when OHA v DOSA at Cadburys is?

Barge might even pop up to see Mantis returning to his now former home ground!

You are correct, I haven't heard much about the hard work President Stewart and the committee have done over the off season, however going on last years performances they would want to have recruited at least 20 quality players to be competitive.

I reckon their senior side would have struggled against the better teams reserve sides last year.

Now if they have recruited all these players to make up a quality side, you would want to hope that last years senior players and those like Paul Brooks that have been around for years do not get disgruntled with what has occured, otherwise they will leave and there goes your depth straight away.

Winning a premiership for 1 year might be able to be purchased, but creating a culture within a club takes a few years and by what I have read on here Uni are doing the former and DOSA are doing the latter, lets see who has more longer term success.

I wish Uni all the best, I used to play for them back in the day, but I don't like the way all this money is being flung around, if all these rumours are true. It ruins the culture within a club if it cannot be sustainable, that is just my opinion.

Does anyone know who the new recruits are at the clubs in the old scholars. It might be possible for someone from these clubs to post alist of new recruits.

Mick Bowden and the Magpies have parted ways for season 2009. I wonder if they have anyone in mind as a replacement? Maybe a former Pie with AFL experience??

Not to mention running lightening quick 1k time trials atm of around the 3:10 mark. typical Dosa 'fat slow onballer'.

Good to hear anyone up there can run 1lkm:eek: did he do the 1k in one go or 3:) only joking, it is good to hear that the boys are having a crack at getting fit becausem, whether you like it or not, and I'm not getting personal and calling people names because I don't agree with their opinion, and I may just maybe I'm one of those fat blokes? they have not been fit for 3/4 seasons and it shows. I am happy that it was pointed out they missed out on GF last season by 2pts last season, maybe if they were a bit fitter they may have kicked one more goal, prevented one more goal etc etc

DOSA need to be more clinical, as stated elsewhere on this forum the OSFA is entirely different now to the old days, better skilled and fitter players playing in it now. Develop what you've got because all these other clubs forking out coin never works, players move on. And what is this crap about Mantis, he played 100% every game for 3-4 seasons and now is moving on, that's life get over it, he should be able to play at OHA without fear of some DOSA knucklehaed trying to belt him just because he left the club! I would hope the DOSA guys are better than that, the guys I know definately are, the new breed ,who knows?

Good to see you're awake DOSACHOKER. That post was some time ago. What's up with that?

Does anyone know who the new recruits are at the clubs in the old scholars. It might be possible for someone from these clubs to post alist of new recruits.

OHA - D Archer, B Rogers

Uni - A Gilmour, C Glenn, J Mazey, C Jones, J Dunham, C Rae

Richmond - B Cato, N Wooley, T Graham, S Campbell

Dosa - Monna back to Seniors

Thegame, I think Claremont will struggle big time. Have lost Booth and Martin (back to New Norfolk) Jared Mason (Back to Hobart) who knows who else and obviously Brent Webster.

Last I heard it looked like Nathan Brown and Ashley Bennett were heading down Uni but I also heard they trained at Claremont in the last few weeks.

Luke Brown is no loss, if Uni are picking up who the rumour mill says they are he will struggle to get a game in the reserves. Dan Bearman is nearly 33 and has no skill whatsoever.

Heard yesterday former New Norfolk, Claremont, Brighton and very briefly DOSA player Sean Blackaby is down at Uni. My source quoted Blackaby as saying the money Uni are throwing around is unbelievable.

If Blackaby's form over time is true, he'll be collecting some healthy coin too! Still a good playerat his best although well over his playing weight when I saw him last about a month ago!

It appears UNI and RICHMOND have done very well with seven new recruits each . this should make for an improved season for both. Have OHA only picked up the two recruits listed above?.

I think the ships have a few others, not sure of names but a few new faces. As far as I Have heard they have not lost any1 from last year apart from 1 or 2 at the most have kept every1.

Big loss for Dosa. Michael Pace has done his shoulder! The poor bugger will be out for the whole year with a reco.

Bad signs for dosa this year !

This will hurt DOSA after he has been talked up as the next B Rogers.. But in serious news.. Have heard Channel have had a very minimal amount of numbers on the track.. What will happen if they can't field both reserves and seniors?

There seems to be a lot of former Premier league players transferring to the Old Scholars in preference to the new SWL. This has to be a big plus for these OSFA teams, and you would think more will follow suit.
