Oppo Camp Oliver Henry (Traded to Geelong 2022)

Like many of them. That's why the forum exists. He is a classy young gun who turned his back on a great club. Why wouldn't it be a subject of ongoing discussion? Wait until the season begins and he kicks a bag.
That he is, but I can't see the point of continuing to comment on someone who is now a former Collingwood player.
I'd much rather see discussion about our boys, although we obviously need to keep a handle on what other teams are doing.

The reference to Poulter and McMahon is nonsense. One didn't get a game and the other played 2 or 3 and then none last year. Henry was offered a contract. He was a required player.

He can clearly do what he wants and I can also hold a negative view on his decision.
Not that it makes any material difference, but Poulter played one game as the activated medical sub last year.

So, he is going to get more opportunities at the club which just won a flag and has been contending for over a decade? If they didn't have the injuries to Hawkins and his brother he would still be in the VFL. It is a weak act. He played a number of senior games before his form dropped off. His replacement then played well. Should we play sooks to ensure they don't leave? How about sucking it up and being determined to get back your place?
He left the Pies because he wanted to play with his brother and live in Geelong. Obviously to us Pies fans that makes him a complete flog.

But let's not scratch around and look to justify our views with rationality, because that scratching gets a bit scratchy. Let's just be satisfied with the understanding that the bloke is a sooky lala flog.

I'm more than willing to put my hand up and admit my views on Henry are borne from irrationality and saltiness, but the constant chopping and changing about why he wanted to leave, and then the behaviour of his management during the trade period, is a big part of it.

First he wasn't happy with the money being offered, despite being a second year player who was in and out of the side.

Then he was concerned about what the arrival of McStay would do for his spot in the senior side, even though they are different types of players and he'd already lost his spot to Johnson, and he couldn't just wrap his head around working on the things he was asked to work on and making himself impossible not to select.

Then it became how he missed home, even though it's an hour's drive away.

Then finally it became that he just wanted to play with his brother, even though at the time the club he wanted to go to was a dominant premiership team without a senior availability and his brother was cemented in the senior side already.

And then the rejection of a compromise by the club for a one-year deal and his manager saying there is no way he was going back to Collingwood if a trade couldn't be arranged, despite also saying there wasn't bad blood and he loved his time there?

Please.

No it’s not, you can’t expect players to give clubs a four year chance when they’re not willing to do the same.

You can hold whatever you you want I’m just pointing out your view is ridiculous.

McStay is taking Johnson’s spot so that pushed Henry down the pecking order irrespective of whether or not they’re different types of players.

I really wish this were true. I’ll be shocked if Henry isn’t a far better player long term than AJ. AJ may not be here in a year or two if he can’t start getting a kick again.

Agree 100pc. The only reason we keep banging on with this thread is it’s pretty apparent Ollie will be a gun for Geelong. It hurts

But apparently you are being ridiculous if you find this behaviour disappointing.

We can do both as you can see by looking at the huge variety of threads.

Hope he plays against us in round 1. The reception he receives from our guys will be telling.

Add in Mackie's sly move at the trade table as creating further annoyance with Henry.

I can see AJ being an absolute star. He has the physique. Up to him no doubt as it's all between the ears.
He looks like he has a huge wingspan.
Air Johnson

Hey that's a good nickname I came up with all by myself.
As long as the Air isn't between the ears.

Just tonight for instance. Henry is playing and Johnson is not. I have a feeling that Johnson has given it his best shot already, revealing deficiencies when the pressure was on that will undermine future development. Henry on the other hand will be a star and would have been playing for us tonight if available. The 'Johnson is better' talk is just wishful thinking.

Bet Some Pies Fans would hope something like this happen to Ollie in RD 1;)

No thanks, Montgomery came back on and kicked 4, was BOG and turned the final their way :(

Brodie got 6, only played another 8, never kicked another goal after that game and was out of the AFL at 28 :(

I think if our coaching staff was willing to drop WHE for a deep forward Reef would be in the starting 22z

She did say “ or sub at worst”. Suspect henry would be in our 23 somewhere, assuming he wasn’t sooking it up like he was at the back half of last season.

Yeah and WHE's inclusion only came off the back of Lippa getting injured. Probably would have been sub, given he had proven he could be used in that role.
Using two rucks has limited us to not be able to play a third tall, unless we restructure.

WHE probably. Or sub at worst. Would prob get the opportunities Reefa will get now.
Ah, so he didn’t leave for more opportunity
It’s almost like we wanted to keep him, were willing to pay him a great wage, assist him in developing his game, have plans to play him regularly in the 1s
No wonder he left

(This isn’t potting you Jen - clearly aimed at a certain ex Pie)
