well it's good that Ollie is content to go into the draft. I honestly think we should use him as a bit of a line in the sand. I dont think we'll get much at pick 25 although we might snag a lucky one, but we might do that at pick 45.....

I think ollie's statement makes it easier for us to just let the ball go through to the keeper....

if he goes through National draft it will be a nervous wait for him but he will most likely get through to Geelong, unless the hawks feel like being pricks to Geelong due to their weird rivalry.

He has no chance of getting to Geelong in the preseason draft so I doubt he goes through that
 
Can I have clarification please.

If Henry isn't traded tomorrow, we then try and get him to sign with us ...
If he doesn't, does he have to go through to the Pre-season draft?

This used to be the pathway but I see posters are saying that he could go to the National draft.
This only happened in the past when you were delisted vs not signing a new contract.

He will choose National like Luke Ball did because more chance of getting to his desired club that way

Think he can go into the National Draft which is before PSD. Could be wrong though.

Strangely enough, he could get to Geelong in the ND at pick 25 and we end up with nothing if he does nominate.

If it goes that way even less with all the Brisbane picks in between. If Mitchell gets traded for one of them, then 50 and 51 for Essendons 42 is a possibility.

This is a massive case of draft manipulation.
The precedent is Brett Chalmers who was banned from playing for us for 3 years.
His manager has said there is not anything Collingwood has done wrong and at the trade table we have acted in good faith asking fair worth.
Geelong insult us by offering 38. Really!!! They then take away our chance at gaining fair worth by doing a deal with Brisbane that trades away 5 picks for number 25. Leaving them with just a 3rd rounder for GC, keeping there 2023 1st and pick 25 that goes out at least to 27.
Does the AFL, GC, Geelong really think Geelongs 3rd rounder is fair for Bowes and Pick 7.
If so why didnt they just do that deal in 5 minutes and trade their 2023 1st for pies. Every one wins.

No instead GC I am sure will receive Geelongs 2nd on draft night, Brisbane will get the points it needs. Pies screwed over by this. AFL should never accepted the 3rd rd for Bowes and Pick 7 deal.

I think we call his bluff.

I also think if he goes into draft we claim the case of manipulation as why would any other club consider picking him up having indicated he was happy with Collingwood but only wants to play for Geelong. Get him banned from playing there for 3 years like Chalmers was.

We have acted in good faith but in my view the Cats and Henry havent.

Our loss would be pick 27-28 in a weak draft affected badly by covid vs showing that we wont be bent over. Yes Cats will end up getting Henry but Karma will come back at them.

I will back what ever our club decides but be furious if we have been forced to take 25.
 
Pick 25 and 33 is the bare minimum I'd accept.

I'm deadly serious when I say I'd fully support the club simply redrafting him at 16 if he walks and we show other clubs, current or prospective players that if you want to try and strong arm this new look Collingwood don't be surprised if we bite back.

Not losing much though if two or three live picks are all we are taking to the draft. It’s not as if we have replace h8n with pick 80….
 
Sorry to intrude, but I just caught up on the Henry impasse and saw he is threatening PSD. If for nothing else than to make Geelong blood pay up, I would love our club or one of North, Essendon etc to come out and say we will take him if he is there in the PSD..its the least we could do for your very generous F3 for Frampton.

But seriously, what a rort this trade period has been for Geelong..its a joke and they need to be made to pay full tote odds here
 
What a cluster**** this situation has turned into, we will undoubtedly fold and cave into the demand tomorrow. Why does Collingwood repeatedly end up with these types of flakes on the list, would be nice if we could put in place an effective no dickheads policy. I’m so over the annual trade drama and upheaval, year after year it happens. Bloody sick of it.

(Yes, I’ve got the cranky pants on today 😡).

It's not only Geelong that's to blame - the AFL have a part to play in this and they just sat on their hands.

Geelong would have known they would get Ollie for last 6 months. Well prepared and ruthless.
Would Hawks trade pick 6 for our 16 and 25 (from Cats). About same points.
Love to draft the player Cat's are holding out for.
