Team Australia should be protesting on Azza's behalf. The Sri Lankan guy should have been DQ'd with his obvious false start (shown by the reaction times as under 0.0)

Of the top 12 placegetters in the heats, Kennedy's reaction time of 0.130 was 2nd only to GBR's Jeremiah Azu's 0.111. Kennedy ran 6.52 vs Izu's 6.53.

Julian Forde of Barbados was 3rd best reaction time of 0.135. Worst reaction time of top 12 was 0.174 by the fastest qualifier Benitez of Puerto Rico who ran 6.49 a PB and National Record and 8th fastest Ali Al Balushi who ran 6.58.

Kennedy's starts - great reaction time, is one of his biggest strengths.

A fast reaction time, but he had a slight stumble at the start.

Hopefully he runs his perfect race in the final. Long time since we've had a man in a short sprint world final.

Last time an Aussie guy won a global medal in the shortest sprint on the programme was Hec Hogan in 1956.
Stan Rowley won bronze in Paris 1900 games when 60m was an event. Also won bronze in the 100m and 200m in Paris

His 3 medals was the most won at the Olympics for a male Aussie in Athletics until Jarred Talent won his 4th in the walks at Rio, his 3rd games.

Solid run by Torrie Lewis there - wasn't expecting better than 3rd there against speedier opposition.

Be glad when she's finished with 60s for the year though and can get back to her better 100/200 distances.

Yep, pretty impressive. Very smooth when she hit top gear.

AdelaideGT is Zoe Hobbs the only female from Oceania countries to break 11 seconds, or was there someone else?

She must be some chance to medal here with the 4th fastest time.

Tonight's hopes:
  • After a stutter at the start of the year, Jess Hull can get back to her best (or at least very near it)
  • Linden Hall can have a good run and possible PB
  • Ky Robinson - same as for Linden
  • Kurt Marschall to finally clear 6m and shut up coach Budgie lol
  • Torrie Lewis to have a reasonable run (but probably won't be making the final)
If the above comes true, that could be another couple of medals for us.
