O'Meara - who wants him?

Would you take O'Meara in the draft/PSD even though he's nominated Hawthorn?

Vic clubs happy to kick those in the non-AFL areas for concessions that don't actually help rectify the inherent disadvantages they face a great deal...but they'll happily reap the benefits of the peril for non-AFL area clubs.

This is only hearsay but from what I've been hearing Gold Coast have a really poor fitness department that has set O'meara back. If true he's making a decision that could save his career.

Why does it have to be a gamble?

When someone buys a business they might have to pay more to the vendor in the future if it performs well i.e. earn-out arrangement.

Can't you trade a second round pick and then agree that if he plays x amount of games or whatever then you have to trade another pick in x years time.

This is a really cool proposition that I would love to see happen in AFL trading. Would need to have a lot of fine print though as something like a 'games played' clause could see clubs forcing a player to play in the reserves so that they can retain their picks.

Unfortunately clubs are quite fickle during the trade period which makes for a rigid market. Seems like the trend has changed a little bit over the past couple of years though.

Is that even possible? Doesn't matter, coming to Essendon PSD Pick 1.
any psd talk i see from dons fans make me think of saints saying carsile in the PSD and dons fans saying its dead :p:p

Sending him over to Europe to get his knee sorted by the same doctor that looked after Nadal, yeah we really skimped on the knee.

Our fitness was a basket case last year, that is why we bought in Cordy this year from the Dogs. He is off, glad we aren't just bending to his will. Spent 2 years rehabbing him, sending him overseas etc, just to turn around and say he wants out.

Gold Coast is now officially a feeder club. Usually the AFL wouldn't care given it's the big Victorian teams who will profit but the Gold Coast won't survive as a club so it'll be interesting to see if maybe they do something that hurts Gils mates at Hawthorn, Collingwood and the other Vic clubs

I'd be a bit more worried about your own club mate!

Every club will want him, provided their doctors give him the all clear.
The operative words. Don't think he's played a senior game in two years. Even if he passes the medical examinations the two first round picks GC is after is overs in my view.

No I wasn't

But nice story lol

I did say he definately would leave Essendon but at that stage I wasn't aware the players knew exactly what they were taking and the whole thing was an act.

Well played imo

I'm sure every Victorian club would be interested, even damaged a young star about to enter their prime is a rare commodity.

I don't think there's a Victorian club right now who is in such a bad spot that they couldn't take the risk. Nor do I think there's a good club that couldn't afford him, although the Cats might be close.

The Bulldogs are probably the only side who have built a very nice list and wouldn't want to stuff up their chance at a big name signing. Every other Victorian team aside from the Dogs and Cats is entering in to a form of rebuilding (including the Hawks who either have a year left or don't) and therefore the risk isn't all that bad and given his age the reward could be huge.

Saints in box seat for me. Melbourne team, should have 800k a season to spend and are on the rise. Whether they give up what's needed to get him (both on the trade table and financial deal) is the big questions.
800k for a guy who hasn't played the last 2 seasons because of injury is getting close to a Tom Boyd insanity kind of deal, not as bad but close.
