With Ch 7/10 likely to win broadcasting rights from 2007 and Ch 10 having rights to all of the finals next year: Am I right in presuming that we only have to put up with Fat Eddies commentry for 22 more games?

The real rpoblem with Channel Nine coverage is Nine's commitment to Rugby League.

On Friday and Sunday, games get pushed back and are screened after the Rugby at 11:00 or midnight. It's a joke.

The AFL desperately needs to get as many games televised in Sydney at a decent hour.

That's a massive part of how the AFL hopes to push the code in the northern states, and currently, Channel Nine are a real obstacle to that.

Channel 7/10 get first and last bidding rights. So unless the 9 consortium pays over market value they won't get the rights.

Kerry Packer makes much more money ripping off pensioners in his casino than from media these days. So maybe he'll pay an exorbitant amount for the footy just to keep 9's ratings high and then try to sell 9 so he can concentrate on what he does best..... destroying lives.

I'm sure he'd have a job for Eddie in one of his casinos if he loses football coverage. Eddie could help attract gambling addicted Collingwood supporters and encourage them to blow their savings just like the Collingwood football club does in their gambling venues.

This is the first time I agree with you Gunnar. The NRL is seldom shown live up here in Queenslander, only finals and State Of Origin. Imagine what they'll do to the AFL? The NRL doesn't even have a set draw in place because of Channel 9. They know who and where each team plays in each round but not until a few weeks prior to each round do they know exactly what day.

There's currently no live brownlow medal, no live Friday night games (only live Friday nights we get are in fact finals so good on Channel 10, we get every final live ). These are things that the AFL would want shown live into New South Wales and Queensland to combat the NRL.

Channel 9 would pretty much be the end of AFL in the northern states due to their prior commitment to the NRL.

I doubt the Footy Show will go if they lose the tv rights, they started the show 12 odd years ago and 7 had the rights for about the first 8 seasons that it ran.
In fact it was always much better when they didn't have the rights, who knows it may go back to being good. I doubt it, but it could happen.

I can tell you now the Footy Show in it's current form will not be back next year, if at all. It has looked tired this year and in need of a total re do on the format and on air personnel.

Last night they were up stage by an 80 year old Lou Richards doing the dirty old man routine. While very funny it just showed how much the show has lost it's edge over the last couple of years.

Trevor is gone and it will be either Eddie to be replaced leaving Sam or they will ditch Sam and retain Eddie with a new offsider.

Channel 10 have done a really good job of showing the AFL here in QLD. They've really tried to make sure AFL viewers in QLD are satisfied. So I hope they keep the rights and share them with Foxtel and Channel 7. But the old 7 days of Bruce McAvaney and Dennis Cometti calling the footy.

Good comment Gunnar. I hate footy on 10 cause of this prat, he says nothing but the absolute obvious and over emphasises it! Get rid of him. For 2007 send across Garry, Dennis, Dwayne and bring back Bruce, that sounds like a good line up to me. Get rid of hacks like Ed, Sos and Walls and send Derm to the boundry where he can't talk up every second bump or bit of niggle. Bring in Stan Alves and Danny Southern they would pull down Walls's pants any day, and keep Tim Lane.
