It isn't a selection they're likely to use at the draft with 3, 12 (hypothetically), 22 and Dixon compensation so I dont particularly see the issue?

Hall is more than enough to get the deal done from GC's perspective, they won't just give it away, they would use it in a different trade, even if they don't plan to use it in the draft, it still has value and can be used to improve their list. Also Dixon isn't a free agent.

Righto I don't see the worth in squabbling over a 5 pick upgrade myself in regards to an unlikely hypothetical. I'm also aware that Dixon is not a FA. Compensation is a universal word to describe receiving something in return...
Hall has put up some very good numbers in the last month, since they moved him to the midfield.
Would have been worth a bag of chips at early season, but he's really turned it around.
Of course, GC has pretty much their entire midfield out, so it won't last. But he's making it count while he has the chance.

Aaron hall wil be high up in GCs B&F, has been BOG as a small forward, rebounding half back and as a midfielder, scharenberg has been injured for 90% of his career and is yet to show he will make it in the AFL.
Aaron hall has shown something in the last month, he's been on the delist pile for a lot of the year. But he's still goes missing and doesnt like the hard stuff. I see him as a softer less applied chris yarran.
He has some talent but question marks about him up top. He's not even in the same hemisphere as elite prospects though
I have to say I haven't made a habit of watching Gold Coast...well ever really. But Aaron Hall is one who's impressed me every time I've seen him play. Maybe I've just seen his good games.
Why all the Hall talk? Have we been linked to him?
I think the suggestion is that him going to Collingwood will grease the wheels for us to get Shaz. I think. I'm not quite sure. Regardless, it's a tangent.

They know that Redden wanted out, Henderson to Geelong, Dixon to Port, Danger to Geelong, Betts to Adelaide etc.
