My favorite is we won our flags when the league was an “amateur” competition. A lot of the greatest players in this sports history played during that era.
Funnily enough, those sorts of supporters can’t wrap their heads around that the majority of their own clubs flags were also won during the same era of football.

And I love how everyone ignores the flagrant salary cap rorting by EVERY club during the 1980’s - in particular Don Scott’s revelations about Hawthorn’s Tasmanian slush fund during this period - so let’s just wipe Hawthorn’s 5 flags during this period shall we.

Yep, as if other clubs weren’t cheating. I have a particular Geelong supporter who hates Carlton so much that even mentioning Don Scott during his Carlton rants goes over his head, which is weird because Hawthorn beat Geelong in the 1989 GF.

Honestly, I don't understand why people bother with the main board overmuch. What conversation can occur there is too easily derailed, devolves swiftly into team based tit for tat. And, quite honestly, we are just so, so easy to troll; we are the easiest club to wound verbally. We have the most pride, and we have had the furthest to fall.
I just kind of wish Carlton supporters would keep from biting. Just because the faces/names are the same doesn't mean it's necessary. A forum lives and dies on individual decisions to commit and recommit to it; those main board threads only thrive because the muppets keep posting bait and we keep biting. Stop biting, and eventually they'll tire of posting the bait and waiting for a fish that never comes.

I've got no interest in gloating when we're back up the top. I'll be too busy enjoying it.
We already know how much it will pain certain posters. That knowledge is enough for me. I'm sure there'll be some 'about time', 'it took you long enough' type posts floating around. That will confirm the hurt.
Yeah nah, I'm gonna go nuts and settle a few old scores. When we were winning flags, I was always humble and didn't gloat too much. Since the salary cap debacle and our subsequent lean years and wooden spoon, many of my colleagues have taken great pleasure in going above and beyond to make my life miserable (from a football support perspective). Whilst that might say more about them than me, I will be making a significant withdrawal on my nice guy banks credits which will see me well and truly in the red. So to quote old mate Clubber Lang in Rocky 3, "Prediction?...Pain!"

Fair enough. Each to their own. Personally, when I see overly confident posts from Blues supporters on here, or gloating posts from other supporters when they're up and about, I just cringe.
Can't guarantee that it won't be me, but I hope I'm not like that and would be happy for others to pull me up on it should it eventuate.
