Osborne... Where's the praise?

Bring on Ellis next year!

Should come on in leaps and bounds.
Played a great game in the GF,
I was bagged a few weeks ago by one of the mods for saying he was in our best 22.
I hope he continues to improve and make us all proud next.

Couldn't agree more. Copped flack for rating Xavier. Is a star!

+1. Needs a good pre-season in the weights' room, and young X will put Gibbs and Thomas to absolute shame. In some regard, he already has. Thomas may have some flair, and Gibbs may have been much better than X early on, but over a period of time, X promises to be an absolute gun. Well on his way already.

At the start of the year / end of last season everyone thought he was gone.

Fast forward a season, and here we have a critical cog in the Hawthorn make-up. One who had a stella, yet un-praised GF:

26 possessions, including 15 kicks and 11 handballs
8 marks
3 tackles
5 clearances
and perhaps most importantly - 5 assists.

He presented well all day, he played hard and fair, he won critical ball when it was there to be won, and he went toe-to-toe with Ablett in the last (and got on top with some ripping runs/clearances).

Here's a thread to the lad we thought was gone before it all started!

GREAT STUFF OSSIE!

Not everyone. ;)

Really, Ozzie was responsible for a lot of the criticism he received on this board. He has turned it around sensationally. His brain fades have almost disappeared. He doesn't give too many dumb frees away and has chanelled his aggression in the right way.

But boy, has he become a great offensive player. Safe to say, not many expected him to become so damaging to opposition with goals and goal assists.

Congrats Ozzie. We are rapt with your unselfish contribution and you have become a class act.:thumbsu: He is clearly a B grade player now and if he keeps going, who knows.....A grader? would love to see it.

Definitely a quality B-Grader now.

Very versatile too, can play a variety of roles for the side.

Versatility is the key to the Ozzman!! He played as a running mid most of the game on Saturday which was exactly what we required with the loss of Young. Can play a negating forward role on rebounding defenders. Also showed he can kick a few sausages late in the year, or inspire the boys with a big grab!!

Will need to beef up those arms alot, to be able to go week in week out in the middle, hope he can step up.

Mike Sheehan has given him praise - he put Ozzie at number 48 in his Top 50 players in today's Hun!!!

I know I saw that and was absoutely shocked. He's had a good season and I really like him but top 50...? Mike does love to jump on the bangwagon though, probably saw his stats in the GF and slotted him in there.

For those with fears that Ossie will leave us to go up north, the fact is, he passed up a chance to be rookied by Brisbane as they were heading into their dominant seasons, because he wanted to play for Hawthorn, I can't see him going anywhere.

Michael Osborne is a Hawks fan, and a Hawks Premiership player, I'd say we've got him for life.

P.S: Isn't it nice to see genuine Hawks supporters win a flag for the club they grew up loving? I'm talkin to you Dewie. :D
