It's been a while, but from memory, 4 tables, and these are often not all running because they don't have 4 poker dealers. So you could be 2nd on the list and 3-4 hours later, you still haven't sat down.

You have to say RAISE if you want to raise. Just putting 20 out pre-flop is a call

I haven't been since NLH was made legal, so maybe things are different now.

It's a real shame because the Gold Coast needs a good poker room, especially with an AFL team there soon, more Victorians will probably fly up for a weekend. Jupiters is the worst casino I have been to. But I would recommend anyone that goes to the Gold Coast to go to Jupiters and experience it for yourself.

Thanks r+b.

Yeah, I'm going to check out the Treasury today and we'll be at Jupiters on Saturday night.

Hopefully I have a good story when I return tonight from the Treasury.

Well, ended up going to the Treasury today and have to say it was a little disappointing.

Granted, the only other casino I've played live at is the SkyCity, but a few things:

1. $2.50/$5 or $5/$10 are the only two games that are offered (fairly sure there's a law in QLD that the small blind has to be half of the big blind, but why not just make it $2/$4 then?)

2. Only had about 3-4 tables on (only 7 available).

Anyway... played a few hands, didn't pick up a pot until I got AcQc in middle position. Guy with a big stack raised to $15 from EP, I called as did the button. Flop came down 2cKh3c, it was checked around. Turn was the ace of spades, I bet out $25 and took it down.

Played a bit more, didn't really get any good hands, and when I got 'playable' hands, missed the flop completely.

Then I got QQ utg + 1, utg limped (he was an idiot, was going all-in for about $120 to open the betting, picking up the massive pots of $7.50!), I raised to $20, 4 callers to the flop.

Flop came down 8/8/4 (two spades). Utg led out for $75... I thought for a while, didn't think he'd bet out with an 8, so I narrowed his range to 66-99, or a spade draw. I had about $70 behind, so I made the call, as did a solid Asian dude from the button. When the button called I assumed I was behind. Turn was a 9, other two got into a side pot, resulting in utg being all-in. River was a Ks, utg shows 5/8o :)rolleyes:), for flopped trips, but thankfully the Asian guy from the button had As/9s for the rivered nut flush...

I played early in the afternoon and lost $100, picked up A/10 and flopped top pair, a guy called me down all the way to the river and rivered his two pair and took down the pot.

I took a break for an hour or two and went back in with FC later in the afternoon. Was down a fair bit until I picked up Kh/10h, had about $30 in front of me, but flat called pre-flop for $5.

Flop came 8h/9c/Jh. Some guy leads out and bets $30, I call all in for $25 and there's another caller. Turn comes Ah, I have the nut flush now, guy who lead on the flop leads out again and the other guy folds, the river is the 7h, I turn over the nut flush and ship the pot, the other guy mucks his cards.

I get up and walk out since FC busted out about 10 minutes earlier with his QQ.

So, ended up going to Jupiters last night. They have 4 tables in total, they had 2 $1/$2 tables, 1 $2.50/$5 table and a $5/$10 table.

Sat down with $100 on $1/$2. Second hand in, I get KJ off and limp in from late position. Flop comes down K/Q/9 with two hearts. I bet $10, one caller. Turn was a 10, giving me a straight. Checked to me, I bet $20, he calls. River is the ace of hearts, I check, thinking he's hit his flush. He bets out $20, I think for a while, but decide to call. He shows Q/7 for a pair of queens. Straight away I liked my table.

Then I go for about 45 minutes without any major hand of note before I look down at two black 8's in the small blind. Raise from EP, I call along with 3 others. Flop was 8/7/5, not really the best flop for a set of 8s, but I bet out $15 when it checks around, two callers. Turn is a 4, awesome. I check and the button bets $20, I decide to call to see if the board pairs. River is an awesome 7. I bet out $30, there's a call, and then a shove for about $19 more. 88 vs. A6 vs. another 6. TYVM.

Then my favourite hand of the night. There's 6 limpers before me, I look down in the cut-off and see 3/4 off suit. I decide to limp in to see if I can connect with a dream flop. Flop comes down 3/4/4. JACKPOT! All 8 players in the hand check the flop. Turn is a brilliant card, a 5. Someone leads out for $10, there's a re-raise to $25. I decide to re-raise to $60, guy who bet $10 folds, but the $25 re-raise tanks for a while, but decides to shove for $120 total. Of course, I insta-call and he turns over A/2 for the wheel.

So yeah, overall was there for about 3 hours and left $350 up.

How many limpers? If it's just a couple, you could consider raising in position. On the river, don't even think about folding. Check and call is fine, check/fold is forbidden unless you have some incredible voodoo read.

Are you kidding? That's an awesome flop. You think someone is cold calling raises with 96 or 64?

but I bet out $15 when it checks around, two callers. Turn is a 4, awesome. I check and the button bets $20, I decide to call to see if the board pairs.

You seem to have a very pessimistic outlook. Yes, in this case the guy has a six. In general though, it's not so likely that someone will have a 6 in this spot (having called a raise preflop). You call because the board could pair, but also because there's a fair chance you still have the best hand.

River is an awesome 7. I bet out $30, there's a call, and then a shove for about $19 more. 88 vs. A6 vs. another 6. TYVM.

Nice.

Then my favourite hand of the night. There's 6 limpers before me, I look down in the cut-off and see 3/4 off suit. I decide to limp in to see if I can connect with a dream flop.

Two napkins will do in this spot, so connected cards constitute a veritable monster.

Flop comes down 3/4/4. JACKPOT! All 8 players in the hand check the flop.

You are in late position, so a little bet (say $10) is probably worth a shot here. Most players will think their overcards are still live on this flop, and anyone with a gutshot or better will think they have the odds to call. OTOH a scary turn card could kill your action and you will win a pathetic pot.

Turn is a brilliant card, a 5. Someone leads out for $10, there's a re-raise to $25. I decide to re-raise to $60,

I don't like the re-raise, as it's a super strong move. I would just call and hope to brind the bettor along for the ride.

So yeah, overall was there for about 3 hours and left $350 up.

Nice work.

Hi Guys,

I'm on holidays at the moment and I'm heading down to star city tomorrow during the day.

Every time I've been to star city there is always a massive wait to get on the poker tables. Normally a Saturday or Friday night

Do they have many tables opened during the working week about 11am?

Whenever I'm in Sydney I usually play in mornings and there can be a bit of a wait, but more tables open up as the day goes on. I think max waited for was about 50min although there seemed a million names on the list.
Good luck!!

Left $70 up courtesy of a 'one last hand'.

Got Q:club:Q:heart: in the BB, guy from EP raises to $6, 4 callers. I re-pop to $30, original raiser and another chick behind him calls.

Flop comes down 10:club: 7:club: 5:heart:. I shove for $46, original raiser thinks for a minute or two and calls. Chick behind him tank folds.

Turn Q:diamond:, river blank.

Original raiser had jacks, and the chick who tank folded had nines.

I also had a really embarrassing moment, which included me flipping over pocket aces (first time I've had them at the casino, so I was pretty excited :p) after I thought the other person in the pot folded the turn, only to find out he actually called .

Still, at least I didn't muck, and I still ended up taking down a ~$70 pot. Glad I only had about another $20 behind, so that's all it really ended up costing me (assuming he wasn't on a draw and would've called the river).
