I'm surprised it's gone largely unnoticed. She said it on the red carpet. I always thought the vault was locked until the count started

That is what they want us to believe. It's all theatre and a show.

Someone on radio was trying to spin that the officials on the table are counting the votes ahead etc and pass them onto Andrew Dillon. That's a bloody cool story but I call total bullshit.

Imo Andre Dillon 100% knows who the winner(s) are prior to the commencement of the event.

Why would he know?

I think the count of the votes is rehearsed to some degree.

As to who tells the CEO, it could be a number of people.

In no way do I believe the votes have been in a safe this whole time, then on live television the count is done.
I would be shocked if this was true. The results must be unknown until the count is conducted. A lot of money is gambled on the result.

Dillon said on 360 that champion data gets the votes about 5 rounds ahead of the count, the gaps reduced as they get closer to the finish. Take it for what it is.

Why would that happen?

That’s been what’s happened for many years.

They can play with the order and create tension etc. I guess it also helps with arranging the graphics etc.

They do not know the result ahead of the night as is claimed above.

It wouldn't be the CEO, but whoever is in charge of custody of the votes would surely have a system in place to ensure all the votes are there. That might involve a few different people, but surely someone is ticking off that every 3,2,1 from every match is in order and inside the box. Just like there must be one or more people - or maybe it is some kind off app these days - that transfers the raw votes from the scumps into the nice cards that get read out on the night.

Common sense says this is split between a few people, but not too many.

Went to the old boys' lunch at Vingt Cinq yesterday and was a cracking event.

Sheeds, Simon Madden and Mark Harvey were there to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of their flag (much laughing ensued about current finals experiences obviously). Harvey still has the most crazy eyes I've ever seen.

Very interesting interview by Mike Sheehan on stage with Richard Colless, who held back no punches in his criticism of the AFL. From his perspective he'd never seen any manipulation like the AFL tried to block Buddy going to the Swans, and named names and pointed fingers. One of the most candid and refreshing interviews I've heard in ages.

Biggest thrill of the night (for me) was meeting the legend Wayne Schimmelbusch who was also pretty open and frank about North's chances next year. He is right off LDU - called him a turnover machine - but did think getting Houston would go a long way to shoring up their defence and rebound attack. Very affable, polite and great to chat with.

My vote is for the AFL to get Mike Brady to sing 'That's the thing about football' before the GF bounce. Would be epic. Champion's jokes are older than Methuselah but he does write a good song.

My low-grade hangover is definitely worth the fun tax from yesterday.

What's the latin translation for mismanagement? Carlton should put it on their logo. 🤣
According to Google Translate, the Latin for mismanage is “infortunium”.
