It always hurts to see a Chris Scott coached side lose. Cuts deep.

One season too many…….Isaac Smith
Should of retired on a high, unfortantly some player just don't know when to hang it up.
Cats forwards also had a shocker tonight. Apart from Rohan in the first qtr.
I think someone told him he wasn't playing The Pies at quarter time.
Good thinking. They had Kochie on being interviewed by Cornes & King.
That's the stuff nightmares are made of.

I know this is a bit petty (and doesn't matter one bit in the grand scheme of things) and there's no guarantee we'll beat Adelaide next weekend but the whole "new ladder leader" doesn't sit well with me! They've played an extra game than pretty much everyone at this point!

The history books now can't say "the pies were on top of the ladder all year from round x onwards" because the AFL is too scared to have one bye week and lose some momentum in a season.

Agreed. The ladder is only official between rounds, and even then only when teams have played the same number of games. Remember “match ratio” when we had an uneven number of teams? LOL.

Port Adelaide the team to beat,Pies and Dees next line atm but we will see come Sept or Oct. We will need Steele and JDG back and firing also need Naicos at something closer to his best,I also think we are going to need some more physicality in the team to compete with Dixon and May. I just hope Freddie stays well and in form because I dread what will happen to Johnson and to a lesser extent McStay when we get to finals.

Get there and then we start planning, it is looking tougher than 6 weeks ago but we are in prime position and we will need Frampton down back to combat someone like Dixon who will be strong for Moore.

We are in a fight now but it will make it sweeter when we win which I think we can do, but I want the team to beat the Crows and then we moved forward from there.

This may surprised some but I would not be counting Begg out for a called up as he is responding well to Oscar playing well and I think also has the necessary aggression to be successful. He is going well in the ruck but more importantly is starting to clunk a few which he has too to be any chance of being picked.

I am sorry it looks like Steene will have to wait till next season but he is really showing signs but to soon for him yet but by the middle of next season he will be around the mark you only need to see him to know this.

For Port to win the flag Hinkley would have to become the first coach in VFL/AFL history to lead his side to a flag outside their first 9 years in the role.

I'm liking those odds if I'm a fan of all the other sides in contention.

I was thinking the other day how back in 02/03 Port Adelaide finished top of the ladder after the H&A season with Mark Williams as coach (now involved at Melbourne), Brisbane had a young McRae and Leppitsch in it's lineup, while Collingwood with Malthouse in just his 3rd season at the club ultimately made the GF after finishing top 4.

Funny how 20 odd years later we've seemingly come full circle and the above 4 teams all look set to fight it out for this years Premiership.
