Isn't that after they met to discuss the necessary rebuild? And both club & Simpson decided at that time that he was the coach to take them through this rebuild stage? ..hence the extra year. And now they're kind of stuck with it due to the penalty they'd have to pay if they terminated his contract & had to pay him out.

he signed a 3 year extension in 2021, he’s previous deal was due to expire in 2022. Just poor reporting I think. Anyway it’s on the eagles board if you want to have a hunt around.

You're not understanding. He signed a deal back last year or the year before I can't remember announcing he signed until the end of 2024. There was never an announcement from the club about sneaking another year on top it's only in news articles now they mention the 2025. Imagine our club snuck in an extra year and didn't say anything if our coach was underperforming.

I get it. Your issue is that it wasn't 'announced'.

I wouldn't know if Eagles formally announced anything, maybe it was news in WA or known to their members .. I don't know. But the fact is Simpson was chosen as the coach to guide them through the rebuild stage & gained an extra year on his contract. I remember him being on 360 talking about it.

Nothing Collingwood ever does is done quietly.
