SR, we are only talking about boundary line and goal line/goal post decisions here. We have the technology. It can be instantaneous. Why not use it.
I can live with those field umpire decisions for now, because we don’t have any means of making this area better today.
Anyway, if Collingwood lose another GF because of an incorrect goal or boundary line decision, I will hunt you down.
I will grab you by the scruff of your neck, and take you to Eddie. And tell him YOU are the reason we lost that GF.
Then when he is finished with you, I will take you to Maynard and tell him the same thing. 😏🤓😎
Be warned. Lololol
We got gifted a goal that smashed the post in 2011 GF. I loved it and want it again.

Don't worry. You'll get your way. More rather than less reviews is the way it's going.

But 1080/120 would still be tangibly better than what we have now

I doubt it. A football travels more than 80mm in a frame at 120fps. No good. I’m not sure how tall goal posts are but if you focus a 1080 camera on a goal post I reckon each pixel would be 8mm. Again, no good.
I’m not saying the AFL can’t do it but that spec won’t get near it.

Would equipment costing $1m do it?
9 grounds, $9m.
? Petty cash for the AFL.

Let's not lose sight of the fact the Crows missed many chances in that last quarter. Should have already won it. Kinda karmically comical that they finally lost it on someone else's mistake. All their misses probably conditioned the ump to expect it.

At least Crows put it in an effort. Based on the Doggies pitiful performance today, I'd rather have seen Crows play finals than Bulldogs.

+ factoring in global shutter, synchronization between cameras and transmission in a noisy radio environment to somewhere where it can be distributed, large dynamic range between night and day games …

… agree, it’s a more tricky problem than simply gaffer taping a go-pro to a goal post.

It's ridiculous that Dogs with their midfield & forward line could have allowed themselves to be in this situation. Just give us one of them.

Um, we did have one of them and we gave him away?
