Clarko "I still have an appetite to do that sort of stuff and we'll see where it takes us"

Not specific to any prospective role but. Did say that he felt very sorry for Teague and compared his situation after 2 years (when Hawks were struggling) to Teague's and noted that the difference was that the hawthorn board and in particular Dunstall stuck fat.

I reckon Clarko doesn’t trust us enough to be our coach (see comments he made re “Teaguey”) and wouldn’t want to tarnish his legacy if things turned sour in the background/outside influences

I’ll feel rather bummed if we don’t end up with Clarkson now, on account of how close he is to being gettable … Interestingly, Graham, who is another candidate I like, apparently had a very successful first interview with Collingwood - ‘blew them away’ according to the journo. I hope we’ve at least given him an interview.
I’m a big fan of Jaymie Graham. Think he’s going to be an excellent senior coach

Gotta laugh at the attempts to undermine a bloke's credibility.. The reality is we've burnt every kind of coach - if we're going to come from the gun-shy angle, we need to be gun-shy of all candidates. We've had the failed succession, we've had two formerly successful coaches fail, we've had 3 newbies fail.

Reeks of not having been a star player, therefore can't coach to me. One of the most flawed attitudes one can have towards potential candidates.

North Melbourne thought highly enough of Graham to request his application for their vacancy, which he declined because he didn't feel ready. Their criteria seems to have been on the mark. Apparently now he has had a very successful interview at Collingwood.

Has been compared to Luke Beveridge, Adam Simpson and Chris Fagan. He's been in the system 10 years, has coached his own team, captained his own team, coached one of the best defences in the league at Eagles, filled in for Simpson etc. The Age article offers a great insight.

I would like Clarkson, because I think he is on his own level, but certainly happy with Graham if we deem him the best candidate.

Not asked by Whately or Reiwolt of his future intentions re coaching after he finishes with Hawthorn. Still no indication what he wants do.
It was the main question most people would ask in that situatio, has me thinking Clarkson said don’t ask that question please.

Don’t know if that is good or bad for us, but it would have been easy to say not coaching for a year, much harder saying want to coach next year, with the only real job at Carlton especially when he feels sorry for DT.

Excuse the intrusion but my opinion. Ross would be the perfect fit for Carlton right now. Carlton has the nucleus of talent and Ross would instill discipline and system ensuring you play to your strengths. He has his faults but it was a fun ride that sadly fell short with a team that had many holes. He changed the professionalism and psyche of our club.

Understand what he delivers and don't allow him to oversee the next rebuild stage.

Best of luck going forward and stay away from Cerra, he is soft and can't kick :)

Just saw the 360 interview with Clarko. A very impressive speaker.
Really hope we get him, but his comments about Teaguey worry me (how the Hawks stuck with him after a similarly rough first 2 years). Just didn't strike me as the sort of bloke who would speak like that about Teague, then accept our offer to replace him in the next week or so.

Hope I'm wrong 🙏

Because he can’t kick and so soft, I guess we just offer a second rounder then😎

He could have killed Ian Aitken.

Don't give me this he was a young man and naive alibi excuse, as I said, not condoning what Lyon is rumoured to have said or done, but there is actual physical evidence of what Clarkson did and it's indefensible.

If you prefer him as coach than Lyon that is fine and understandable, but don't try and pretend for a moment argue he is a better human being than Ross Lyon.

At any rate, Ross the Boss will be our next coach, I hope most of us are mature and forgiving and open minded enough to embrace him with a fresh and open mind

Elmer, how would you have any idea, who the better human being is? Really strange comment.

Graham may end up being a gun coach - however “no training wheels” for Blues this time me thinks.

Been there done that.

Yes thought that as well. But could be just keeping the Teague supporters on board if he gets the job ( showing some empathy). That comment did suggest he knows DT is gone and would only know that for a fact if talking to us.

It may be so, but we've 'been there done that' with all options so it's an invalid argument really. What it really shows is how shizen we are/have been in other departments for so long. I certainly hope we rely on outside skill to appoint our next coach. All I'm saying is that Graham's CV and the esteem with which he is held, stacks up.

We haven't really tried the "training wheels" option anyway.
Had some that needed them but we didn't provide the steadying hand.

You could say we haven't given it a fair crack, except for the period with Neil Craig. Something always seems fishy around Carlton.

He makes a few of them..........

Puts 2 and 2 together and gets 14.

Quite frankly, I don't give a crap what anyone else thinks disparagingly of my opinions. The Ignore button is always there.

Everyone who is half clued in knows Ross Lyon will be our next coach, reckon there has been some throwing the toys out of the pram by some fans here who had their hearts set on Clarkson.

Finally I would not be against Alastair Clarkson coaching is, it's just that i firmly believe that Ross Lyon is our next coach, and have felt that way for more than a week now.

It's not a freaking urine expelling contest about coaching prediction folks, I am not neccesarily stating what I hope will happen, I am simply stating what I honestly believe what will happen.
