I just want someone with a clear understanding of the game that's able to identify problems and give a detailed analysis beyond "we needed to be better for longer."

Some coaches bring a page of stats to press conferences and and are able to point out strengths and weaknesses. I think everyone could benefit from a better communicator that can give honest and detailed feedback. The Hinkley method of shrugging the shoulders and playing everything down has to end now.

I mean, I'm not really a fan of Chris Scott but imagine having a coach that sounds like he actually knows what the * he's talking about?
Listen to Buckley commentating last night. Explained well what was happening and what teams were trying to execute. Imagine Ken doing that?

Surely there is a difference between what a coach says in press conferences and what goes on behind closed doors. I doubt all Ken says is ‘work harder boys’. If that is the extent of his football communication, then our players and line coaches are amazing and have been over achieving.

Was Buckley a good coach? Him reading stats at a press conference surely doesn’t correlate with this. Longmire and Clarkson said/say sweet FA re game analysis. Hardwick doesn’t give much away.

If you watched the footage from both of the coaches' boxes in the 2020 prelim, you would know that's exactly what Hinkley is like. "We just need 30 seconds of magic I reckon". The fact that he's been a senior coach of an AFL club for 10 years is extraordinary. Our club hierarchy is inordinately dumb.

Hire Hardwick.

Even in last night's presser, Ken was asked what separated the two teams in the last quarter. Hinkley more or said they took their advantages and a few 50/50 balls bounced their way.

As in, he's still putting it down to luck. No one at the club ie responsible in these close games. Getting close to is good enough. You've done your job for the week, whatever will be will be.

And that, ladies ans gentlemen is how you can turn 50/50 games (2 goal margins) into a 2-5 record this year. Collingwood on the other have an 8-1 record in similar margin games.

Anyone telling you that these results are solely put down to luck are trying to fool you.

And now we go to ken hinkley for the special comments.

Ken "Yeah guys... See... Um... Carlton have just worked harderer for longerer so far um... And someone has to lose hey boys"

With a bit of luck he will come to the realisation that it's time to go, you can only makes so many excuses, you know every team has injuries and covid.
He will also be aware of the supporter unrest and it is starting to swell.

In all likelihood he's already instructed his manager to cut the best separation package he can possibly cut.

He almost seemed perplexed why someone was asking this. We were up by 7pts yet in his mind it was just the cards didn’t fall out way and why the hell are you questioning me about it.

Interesting insight into what the assistants may be dealing with…behind closed doors I’m sure he’s not as accepting of being questioned.

My job is to get ‘em close and let luck do the rest.

Yep. His response about what separated the sides was absolutely a deflection and infuriating.

Buckley coming to Port as a coach and delivering a Premiership or three would be poetic. Started his career as a player with the Magpies and ended it delivering some Premierships as a coach. We can't do any worse than Ken at this stage so there's literally nothing to lose because we haven't won s**t since 2004!
And what exactly did Buckley win at Collingwood???

Buckley won’t be coaching anywhere next year, if ever. He’s far too happy with his current lot in life and doesn’t miss the stress and pressure of coaching one bit. He’s said exactly that himself just recently.

What about being a senior assistant or line coach? Less of a spotlight on him doing that.

Koch on 5aa this morning saying that there is no disconnect between the players and coach and that was evident in the way they playe against the Cats.
In other words steady as she goes, Ken will be here next year but I wont.
I probably agree there’s no disconnect there. There’s a disconnect with how the club is performing currently and what the club is actually about. Koch doesn’t see it or want to acknowledge it.

Who cares if there is no disconnect.

We aren't here to be connected, we are here to win.

If they are all happy with losing then that just means that the problem is even bigger!

Well to be fair he's only stating the obvious.

'Chasing Greatness' = 'Accepting Mediocrity'.
