I watched the game we had against Carlton on Friday night on Fox. Taking the emotion and euphoria of the win out of it, It shows we still have massive issues. Jones played ok at best but is a massive way from deserving rnd1 pick status. Very poor decision making and disposal. Same for McHenry. Had 21 disposals that day but most to our disadvantage. Soligo is what I expected of McHenry. He is still raw but big upside. Parnell is average but should improve. ROB needs a all-round game. Not just a tap ruckman. Berg is a frustrating player. On his day a match winner. Most of the time poo. Murphy not a forward!

Apparently Parnell is one of the stand outs in match sim this pre season

Hopefully get some decent improvement out of him this season which we could do with given his kicking and potential ball carrying

Pre-2022 Saad level production would be an ideal, realistic result

Hopefully hitting a similar peak to Saad in his mid 20’s

We played well for not much score and reward in the 1st quarter and went on with it in the 2nd quarter - but we couldnt score goals. It felt like the misses - some easy ones - cracked us along with some interesting umpire calls

The writing was on the wall when Rory Atkins stole the ball off Tex after Tex was paid a free kick, and about to kick into an open forward 50, only to be immediately tackled holding the ball by the Tigers player that was right up his arse, which resulted in the Tigers first goal.

Tigers had the yips up to that point, it really brought the Richmond crowd into it.

Nothing realistic about that, Saad has elite speed.

Parnell is never getting to his level but that's okay given his cost.
Maybe not the top line speed but could have the potential to give the run and carry and top shelf disposal that a Saad type provides, with a similar statistical output

Could also go the other downward way, we’ll see when the season begins

I still think this is the best post in this thread and after everyone’s read this we can close it.

Thanks bye

How we all feeling? Anyone nervous they may have been exceptionally negative about our future fortunes?

Hmm. Its almost as if some people havent burnt over 25 years.

I remain optimistically negative .. ie, we will soar to great heights and lose a crucial final in the cruellest of fashions.

2018 - 5-2 after 7 rounds.
2019 - 4-3 after 7 rounds
2021 - 3-1 after 4 rounds
2022 - 3-3 after 6 rounds.

4 of the 5 past years we have had decent starts (just like this year).

Yes this feels different. Yes the past 3 weeks have been fun and exciting, but lets not forget that we have had an absolute dream run of injuries. Right now we have one bloody player on our injury list and that is our pick 50 from this years draft.

The season is long.

On the flip side, we are already a 5th of the way through that season and way ahead of the injury ledger.

The season is long, and the other teams are breaking down faster then us

Fair point.

We have had an absolute dream run with regards to injuries in 2021/2022 and the beginning of 2023.

Can't help but to feel its been wasted on non contending seasons*

We could very well have a 2012 style season which I would be all for.

I saw this post when I opened the thread and was immediately confused.
