We've now got a shit tonne of talls on the list. Will be interesting to see where they all fit in.

KPF:
Lynch, Lefau, Kosi, Bauer, Fawcett, Gray, Faull & Armstrong

KPD:
Balta, Gibcus, Miller, Young, Blight, Trainor

RUCK:
Nankervis, Ryan, Colina, Hayes-Brown

There's clearly an oversupply of key forwards, which hopefully means the days of moving Balta around are done. I'd also be telling Kosi he's spending the entire preseason training down back, as I think long-term that's his only chance of making it.

Despite having so many talls, we're still pretty light-on for ready-to-go rucks, but most clubs are as it's difficult to keep mature guys sitting in the VFL.

Lynch will be gone in a couple years. Lefau coming off his 2nd ACL. Kosi, depth at best. Bauer, Fawcett and Gray unknowns at this stage.

Balta is locked in long term, hopefully down back. Gibcus coming off 2 significant injuries but hopefully has a very successful career. Miller probably pushed out of the side once some better options develop. Young coming off a knee. High hopes for a Blight and Trainor.

Nank the only solid ruck atm. Ryan, who knows. Colina and Hayes Brown - very long shots but pretty sure Soldo was a Cat B at one stage so they could be a chance.

Very happy we drafted some new KP talent in this draft.

A good chunk of them won’t make it. A lot also won’t be around when our midfield develops.

We need 4-5, plus ruck support in a best 22.

Sufficient depth for our vfl side as well.

Truth is, we should have gone with talls years ago. The last two have been a disaster, largely because we don’t have a single target once lynch gets injured.

I’m far far happier with what we did last night than I would be if we went down the north route. Taking mids and flankers at every opportunity, then having to trade out a first because they are desperate.

I hope we trade back in this draft and try to find some running power and speed at some later picks.

might have to send colina or OHB back to the ammos we're gonna be that stacked with talls up fwd in the vfl

hopefully it's the end of bauer's swinging career because he's a gun up fwd, 3rd tall material to armstrong & faul (maybe fawcett🤞), just have smillie be our chop out ruck in the midfield, easy, just don't make him jump up knee first, only jostling ball ups hawkins style. force him to learn to throw his body and strength around for 1on1s

There won't be an oversupply this time next year. Our forwards were the worst in the league last year and watching the ball being sauntered out of the back 50 because blokes like Cumberland and Kosi were fundamentally uncompetitive is part of the reason we're as awful as we are.

Next year Lynch will likely retire, Kosi will likely be delisted after serving his purpose of protecting the kids for a year, one of Fawcett or Gray will probably be given up on if they don't have a big year and who knows how Lefau will go but he's always been viewed as a third tall type as opposed to a genuine key position player. I would argue Bauer isn't a genuine key position prospect either.

Down back we've locked in Balta but there's genuine injury issues with Gibcus now, Miller tries hard but is limited, Young similarly tries hard but has a small ceiling of talent and is not young. Blight the relative unknown.

We've now got 3 of the brightest tall prospects in the land to fill out the spine and that I'm far more hopeful for the future knowing that after a few preseasons the likes of Armstrong and Faull will compete both in the air and on the ground, while Trainor will be a great foil to Balta, Gibcus and potentially even Blight.

Our rucks Nank is fine and we can just hit the second hand market for someone like most sides do.

They’re all so young that they’ll be all rotated through which is exciting

Kozis career is all but done, Bauer may get settled as a defender now too

Also likely means we’ve stacked up on future firsts shall they seek opportunities elsewhere

For the towards - Lynch is basically finished, Bauer isn't a key forward. Kosi is delist worthy. We need one of Armstrong or Faull to make it big time..ideally both.

Those ruck options are putrid. Nank is close to finishing. Ryan big meh. Other two options are dire straights

The key backs is the most stocked area but still lots of questions marks.

A lot of names on paper doesn't mean much.

They all have to play somewhere.

We've got 8 kpfs on the list and only 6 possible spots across our two teams. Either they think we're gonna have another year of injuries or they're gonna move some of them around.

Rd.1 young talls are generally not ready as their fitness/running games aren't usually up to it yet. But with injuries to players like Gibcus, LeFau and Young, they are a show if they have a really strong preseason because a few talls on our list are very speculative.

Backs: Balta, Broad, Miller are locks early you'd think but Blight and Kosi will be pushing hard. Gibcus auto in when available. Trainor has a show of being there early because he much like Gibcus, good athletes with good running ability.

Forwards: Lynch is the only automatic. You would think that Bauer will be given a go because he did very well late last season and has done his apprenticeship. Kosi has the experience and fitness but is stop gap.
Gray, Fawcett, Armstrong and Faull will all be about even, so which ever has the best summer will get a go early you'd think.

A lot of our first picked players from this year are now looking much better as depth options for in 3-4 years time. Really we were so overdue a rebuild. The biggest mistake in hindsight was putting too much power in Dimma’s hands at the end of 2021. Should have started the rebuild in 2022

Exactly what I wanted to see so far. I'd have no issue with Dodson/Gerryen/J.Whitlock being taken tonight to give us that ruck/forward option, but won't be fussed if we opt to go with another midfielder/flanker type to add a bit more run and carry to the line up.

As Blair said last night we're trying to select a premiership side with the players we're taking in this draft and next years draft/free agency/trade period.

I'm expecting a lot of turnover in the next couple of years as we move on those that aren't good enough and replace them with young talented options.

It might be a little strange in 2025 trying to shoehorn all these talls into the both the AFL & VFL line ups, but we'll get a pretty quick indication as to who is viewed as a long term option and who is on borrowed time.

Gray is the one I've got a watch on to play early next year. Would've made his debut late this year, if not for the hammy.

Kosi has been training as a defender……

Says Sims is Fwd/Ruck. Pretty happy with this choice. We have all the talls we need wrapped up within this draft and what was already on the list. If Sims develops faster and better than Samson has then we just need the next couple of drafts to pick smaller players where we end up having holes in the list and you would expect these players to take less time to get up to speed. Two years from now we could be looking pretty exciting.
