As cringe as that show was, I hope they do another season. CSM have featured quite a bit so it would be good to see any Houston back story.

Houston doesn't want to go to you fools but Fremantle might want to take 11 off the table and more importantly if NM are stupid enough to offer up a F1 Fremantle would be stupid not to accept.

Either they keep that juicy pick for themselves and potentially use it in the race to get Warner next year or they give Richmond the option of 10 and 18 this year or the F1 by itself.

I really don't understand this "threat" of North now getting pick 13 for their F1. Then what? They offer pick 13 to Port for Houston? The same Pick 13 that they rejected when they also got pick 29 and 36 as part of the deal?

What else will North offer that will blow our offer out of the water?

It's actually farcical how it's all being staged

So Morris, Barrett, Ralph, Twomey et al up until today knew ALL the details, ALL the wheelings and dealings, knew the board blocked the deal, knew what the sticking point was. They knew it all. In detail.

But now today...no idea where it sits? None of them?

I think the Houston part of the deal is fine. It's the Lukosius hlaf where they're getting flogged.

Houston is being sold for future first, 36, Richards and Noble.

They're then onselling most of it and all up are selling 2 future firsts, pick 39 and Noble for pick 13,29 Lukosius and Atkins. That's not a good deal for Port.

So that's where this stinker of mine came from - and here I was putting it down to secret women's business. No wonder I've been popping the Panadol. I would have gone the valium route, but I'm fresh out after the last couple of seasons we've had, and I couldn't get in to see my dealer. Maybe I should have hit up Oliver's or something instead.

The only other explanation is that North are interested in Pick 13 irrespective of Houston. In which case, Port can just take the pick 13 from the 3 way and on-trade it for North's F1 if they think that's worth more.

Make it a 4 way trade and Port can walk away with North's F1, Pick 29 and Pick 36 for Houston whilst trading pick 39 for Richards and their own F1 for Lukosius/Atkins

Geelong have had all trade period to improve pick 17 but have done nothing.
Picks 3, 9, 12 and 14 have all moved but Mackie has done NOTHING. (fecking cnut!)

I suggested him the other day; it makes sense. He’s from SA (Glenelg), has had a few years in the system (not sure if Port liked him the year we drafted him) and plays in a similar back half position. We would still have TJ to develop there as long term Howe replacement.

Probably better than adding Atkins to the deal. The fact he could have 8 more years as opposed to 1-2 with Atkins might appeal. If we add Ryan then maybe we can hold back 36 or get more than 58 back.

If the deal was off we would have heard about other ways Luko, Richards and Noble are moving.

No rumours have leaked out.

Port would be seen as the bad guys to Luko, Richards, their managers, family, etc if they cancelled one deal and didn't have another way to satisfy people that they had made promises too.

It wouldn't matter if they left players who don't end up playing for them disgruntled but it certainly matters for Houston.

By all means clubs should hold players to contracts if they are trying to strong arm them into accepting a sh*t deal. I have no problem in theory with Port holding out.

But I think there's a big difference holding players to a contract when the offered deal is sh*t vs holding players to a contract when it is fair. Much bigger reason for the player to become disgruntled.

Port fans seem to want a 'win' off this trade rather than accepting a fair loss, as if the club holds all the leverage when a player has told them to GAGF. You have the contract, but they are the one who has to remain motivated to play well for you.

You can't just assume the guy you've held hostage will develop Stockholm Syndrome rather than try to grab your gun.

And, based on the possibly flawed assumption that Port aren't complete halfwits who will put posturing/ego and pandering to members/media over sensible list management, I think we will get Houston for that reason.
