I don't know how long away Condon's NBA draft actually is, but I'd say if he's less than 0.001% chance of being drafted he'll be signing with us officially the day he's eligible via Cat B. AFL careers are short, he's better off having a crack the minute the writing is on the wall.
How does the NBA draft work -- Are you eligible once you turn 19 in your first year at college? And if so, guess it lasts until his final year in a 4 year college (if he lasts that long) 2027?

I'd say the odds are long for him being drafted. I haven't seen anyone imply that he's a shot at it realistically.

As much as I love bobby he isn’t untouchable at the trade table.
His value will likely never be higher and if he has family reasons to go back to perth we could absolutely get the most out of a deal.

Look at the beams deal end of 2014 and what they did for us in the years post that deal, we got a great return which ultimately set us up with 2 gun players (de goey and crisp) and 1 good average player in greenwood.

I’m not saying we’d get as much out of a WA club as we did from Brisbane but with a year to run on his contract, and those teams actively chasing him I think we are in a strong position.

I think the last thing we want is to be bent over a barrel and give bobby an unrealistic long term contract.

Agreed, I would prefer if we kept Bobby but his value is probably never higher and if it helped turn it in to Smith or McDonald + player or picks I think it could work.

This. We always tend to overrate our own young players and underrate other team’s. The way Harley Reid bursts out from stoppages and dishing out 50m+ passes is reminiscent of Buckley. If we end up with Nick, Harley and LDU we might never lose a game again.

(At least not from the middle)

Cost us a bit to get in Lachie and Reid is going to cost much more. Hill + unproven young player + 2 x 1sts would be good for us if WCE bites.

Sorry mate. Sometimes you are just wrong. There are 1sts and then there are top 10, top 5 or top 2 picks. Collingwood 1sts are usually just top 2nd round picks in all but name. Plus Harley looks like a Nick Daicos talent.
What would you prefer:

Nick
or
Bobby, Allan, pick 21 and 23.

I understand you love the look of Allan but......... It's at least close if you look at it that way.
Plus it's is the trades thread. We all love Collingwood but why do we get shitty when talking about hypothetical trades.

He’s draft eligible as of this year if he meets a certain criteria which I don’t know the specifics of. He’s older than Bronny James who met the criteria and will be drafted late in the 2nd Rd. I’m far from an expert, but my understanding is next year would be the one if he’s going to be seriously considered as an NBA prospect (by that I mean a 1st team player rather than bench option).

Meanwhile, former Melbourne Renegades quick Zak Evans has turned his back on cricket and committed to a move to football.

A talented junior, Evans, 24 is being courted for a Category B rookie spot, similar to former Victorian leg-spinner Wil Parker, who made his debut for Collingwood recently.

Sources indicated Gold Coast was making a strong play for Evans but Geelong, St Kilda and the Magpies have also been linked with him.

“He’s a bloody good size,’’ Donati said. “He’s got stronger every week.

“He’s big, he’s strong. He looks a utility type who could play mid, forward, back.

“He came here with a cricketer’s body but he’s just starting to take shape, get some definition.

The way he was talking, it sounded pretty much like Condon will be Cat B as soon as he is eligible.

Yeah. That was the impression I got too.
Can we sign him put him inactive until he quits basketball and then select another cat b

I'd be spewing if Bobby left but the trade package would have to significant.

He's in the top 3 small forwards in the game now.

I'd prefer he stays.

In 2024 he would not be in the top 3 small forwards currently. Outside of last weeks game, he's had a pretty lean 2 months and only kicked 7 goals from his last 9 games.

So now Bobby is part of a trade package to get Harley Reid, Bigfooty at its finest or most clueless, I can't work out which. But his trade value will never be higher! Fug me!!

Seems a bit diff to that previous post 😂

Meanwhile, Collingwood star Bobby Hill could look to start talks to further extend his deal at the Magpies soon. Hill, who kicked five goals in the Pies' comeback win over the Roos last week, has two years to run on his deal at the club to the end of 2026 but could look to further extend at the club, where he is settled. – Callum Twomey

That's more like it 😉
